great video
talks about how luck plays such a huge part of our lives and how a small increase in luck (even 1%) can largely change the outcome down the road
most that have achieved success tend to attribute it to themselves and overlook the luck aspect of things
always increase your luck surface area and if you have benefited, do it for others too

It’s easier to learn to avoid things that disturb your peace of mind than it is to force yourself to not get disturbed by them

wuwei 无为
Wu wei is a polymorphic, ancient Chinese concept expressing an ideal practice of "inaction", "inexertion" or "effortless action", as a state of personal harmony and free-flowing, spontaneous creative manifestation.

i really like Naval’s point on how not all books are meant to be finished
once you’ve extracted the key ideas or what you’re interested in from the chapters, just move on to the next
i’ve always been stuck on the idea that i have to complete books to say “i’ve read it”, but it has only led to me stalling on dry books and just overall delaying progress
will practice more intentional reading by skipping to interesting chapters when needed instead of forcing myself to skim through dry content
aiming to clear more books this year (part of my NYR)

life has never been objectively better and yet subjectively worst
because of our nature to desire
because of our nature to desire
which reminds me of what Naval said,
“Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.”

something i believe in as well
and the best way to put it is to hustle quietly and let your success speak for itself
there will always be people wishing that you don't succeed, so as to not feel bad about themselves
because you are taking the chance that they never dared to and possibly succeeding in achieving a life that they can only dream of
notice all the jealous folks trying to downplay your hardwork and efforts to "luck", but they've never seen the hours and sacrifices you put in the past years or the ups and downs you had to go through

above all, remember to remain humble regardless of haters
never attribute malice to incompetence
most are simply projecting their presumably miserable lives onto ones that deviated from the norm to pursue their goals (that most had to abandon)
the real ones will support you always
