why everyone is quitting social media https://youtu.be/zN-rElTzR_4?si=lJLL4Bt4I5jjFynU
i have so much to say about this
in 2023, i was telling my friends that the future 'trend' would be in quitting social media. fast forward 2 years, we're reaching a pivot. social media isn't social anymore! only 7% of time spent on instagram in 2025 is spent on viewing content from friends.
i initially quit social media as a way to work on myself post breakup in 2022, as it led to a lot of comparisons to people's happy lives. social media feeds off attention/validation of the individual. everyone is incentivised to only post their best lives, painting this image of perfection. fast forward a few months of detox, i came to realise that i'm much happier without it and have never returned since. (https://news.1rj.ru/str/humblespace/229)
social media is also acting as a crutch for boredom for most people (https://news.1rj.ru/str/humblespace/435) and studies also show that most people know that its bad for them, but yet they can't seem to stop. why?
anyw, i think the key here is not necessarily to reject social media entirely, but to moderate your intake and especially be aware of your consumption habits. if you are one that is scrolling ig stories/tiktok every chance you get in between breaks of a conversation, there is a problem there. i believe social media is an integral part of society and will never leave, but the change can start internally within you.
(maybe not so) hot take: social media is the digital k-pod that the majority are consuming unknowingly

social media is the digital k-pod that the majority are consuming unknowingly
for those that do not know what k-pods are
KPods are vape cartridges filled with synthetic drugs such as cannabinoids, ketamine, methamphetamine, and medical sedatives. These substances are mixed in unpredictable combinations, which means users never really know what they are inhaling.

had an interesting conversation w a friend recently regarding
fate vs free will
if you believe in fate, then doesn't that mean that humans do not have free will?

isnt it also fascinating how consciousness in itself exists?
an atom alone does nothing, but putting them together creates cells, which alone (once again) does nothing, and putting cells together suddenly creates consciousness
like how??

received a dm regarding self-esteem and not feeling enough
while i emphasize that i am no therapist or counsellor, i used to feel that way years ago as well
prior to 2023, i had insecurities and low self-esteem for most of my early life
after a canon event, i decided to work on myself through daily affirmations, journaling, meditation, reading, and more
i did those habits consistently for over 8 months, and one day i woke up and feeling like a new man
and indeed, that was the day i was reborn
my insecurities faded away, while my self-esteem and confidence were at levels never felt before
the switch was flipped permanently
and the key was to focusing on the journey, instead of the process
this mental switch subsequently impacted my life positively as well, allowing me to achieve my goals through a lot of positive thinking and self belief
if you have any thoughts or advice, feel free to share it too for this anon :-)

i once sent a short story to a friend that i found really helpful in focusing on the journey in general [short story] once upon a time, there was a man that wanted to achieve wisdom and nirvana from an elder monk man: how many years will i need to achieve…
^this was the short story i read when i was on my journey to feeling enough as a person
it was very helpful for me
and i hope it helps you too
