📱 A flip-style or book-style @iPhone?

📰 Apple is reportedly considering a square foldable smartphone that opens like a classic clamshell. This is reported by Mark Gurman, Bloomberg. According to him, such a device would compete with phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr — compact smartphones that fold in half.

📒 First comes the “book-style” foldable
Before releasing a flip model, Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in a book-style format – similar to large foldable phones that open like a tablet. Only if that device proves successful might Apple move on to a smaller clamshell version.

Apple is betting that its first foldable iPhone will be successful enough to generate real demand for the category and that customers will want additional shapes and sizes, much as they have with traditional slab-style iPhones,

Gurman notes.

🔮 The flip version is far from guaranteed, but insiders suggest Apple could unveil its first foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026 – possibly as early as September.

👂 Quick Share on Android is becoming even more friendly to the Apple ecosystem

Looks like the walls between ecosystems are slowly coming down.

💨 Android Authority reports: Google has confirmed that Android’s compatibility with AirDrop from Apple will soon roll out to many more devices — and will no longer be exclusive to Pixel phones.

🎤 At a press conference in Taipei, Android’s VP of Engineering Eric Kay said that in 2026 the feature will expand across a much wider range of devices, with support not only for iPhones, but also iPads and MacBooks.

ℹ️ Google has also turned Quick Share into a standalone app on Google Play — making file transfers and switching from Apple devices to Android easier than ever.

📰 Apple acquires Israeli AI startup Q. ai

🇮🇱 Apple has acquired Israel-based AI startup Q. ai, known for developing technology that detects speech through subtle facial skin movements. The deal terms were not disclosed.

💰 Reuters estimates the company was valued at around $1.6B, while the Financial Times reports the price could be close to $2B.

🤖 Q. ai uses machine learning to enhance silent and low-volume speech recognition and has filed patents for tech that analyzes micro-movements of facial skin to detect spoken words, identify users, and even assess emotions, heart rate, and breathing.

ℹ️ Around 100 employees will join Apple, including CEO Aviad Maizels and co-founders Yonatan Wexler and Avi Barliya. Maizels previously founded PrimeSense, acquired by Apple in 2013 — its tech later became the foundation of Face ID.

🤐 Apple has not commented on how it plans to use Q.ai’s technology.

iPhone 17e is launching very 🔜

🚨 According Mark Gurman the launch could happen any time before the end of February, with February 19 being the most likely date. Meanwhile, iPhone 16e stock is reportedly running low.

What to expect:
• New A19 chip
• New wireless chip N1

💵 The price is expected to remain unchanged, starting at $599.
