One of the most ridiculous things Pythagoras (Who founded the Pythagorean religious cult, searched for the significance of his own brilliance and concluded that he was semi-divine) was his hatred of beans. He believed you should never eat fava beans because "...they give you gas and expelling gas took away the “breath of life.”
