This is a special collection of problems that were given to select applicants during oral entrance exams to the math department of Moscow State University. These problems were designed to prevent Jews and other undesirables from getting a passing grade. Among problems that were used by the department to blackball unwanted candidate students, these problems are distinguished by having a simple solution that is difficult to find. Using problems with a simple solution protected the administration from extra complaints and appeals. This collection therefore has mathematical as well as historical value.

How to represent the curve of the square root of a function p(x)?

When p(x) is positive, you can plot it easily.
We have : g(x) = sqrt(p(x)) plotted in the real plane.

But when the function p(x) is negative ?
p(x)<0
0<-p(x)
p(x)=-(-p(x))
then
f(x) = sqrt{p(x)} = sqrt{-(-p(x))}
f(x)= sqrt{i².(-p(x))} = i.sqrt{-p(x)}

By taking the square root of the additive inverse of p(x), it will be possible to plot f(x) which wil be will be drawn in the imaginary plane.

شکلی هندسی را پهنا ثابت گویند که پهنای آن در همه جهات یکسان باشد. ساده ترین شکل با پهنای ثابت دایره است. پهنای یک دایره با شعاع r برابر با 2r است. ساده ترین شکل با پهنای ثابت که دایره نیست مثلث رولو نام دارد. 👆👆👆👆👆👆
قضیه باربیر: همه شکل های پهنای ثابت با پهنای برابر با r دارای محیط یکسان هستند.
