The "first selfie" was taken by Robert Cornelius, an amateur chemist who in 1839 having read about Louis Daguerre's Daguerrotypes made his own and took this photo making it the first known self portrait photo ever, he noscriptd it erroneously "The first light picture ever taken. 1839."
