🎼📞 From 24 to 29 April 2017 Telegram held a contest to create audio alerts for Telegram Desktop apps (Windows/Mac/Linux) among russian users.

This were the desired sounds:

1. INCOMING CALL
Not the melody. You can record a classic phone call, or generate tonal sound signal, but also welcomed and experimental sounds.

2. CONNECTION
Single short notification sound during dialing (duration no more than 1.5 seconds). It is also reproduced and the interviewee at the time of reception of the incoming call.

3. BEEP WHEN DIALING
The notification sound that is played repeatedly with a certain periodicity.

4. LINE IS BUSY
Short notification sound that is played repeatedly at a time interval approximately equal to the duration of the alert.

5. END OF THE CONVERSATION
Short sound notification (maximum duration of 1.5 seconds).

WAV files must be sent to @soundcontest before April 29th 23:59 (so please don't send anything now guys)

📶 Telegram is the messenger who consume less data

The Italian operator SosTariffe studied the statistics of traffic consumption among the most popular messengers, finding out which one consumes less mobile MB.

▶️ The benchmark was performed with the most popular applications for messaging:

— WhatsApp
— Telegram
— Google Hangouts
— Line
— Viber
— Facebook Messenger
— Skype

Experts have been testing for hours using LTE.

The results speak for themselves: Telegram consumes less data than the other messengers, while Skype and Facebook Messenger are recognized as the most uneconomical.

As you can see from the table below, Telegram is ahead of WhatsApp. The messenger of Pavel Durov is characterized by the low consumption of mobile traffic, with a score of 0.42 MB to 3.75 MB per 1 hour of usage, which is 35-40% less than Facebook messenger.

Other applications consume more than WhatsApp, which consumes from 0.65 to 6.23 MB per hour.
