Extreme rainfall and landslides have killed at least 15 in the state of Minas Gerais - while a number of dams are reportedly at risk of flooding.
State officials confirmed the victims had passed away after rivers had burst their banks and left huge areas submerged. Among them a family of five with two children.
Almost 30,000 people have been forced to flee.

A suspected ransomware attack in Albuquerque disrupted services across an entire city county, including a local jail which went into lockdown after losing access to camera feeds, databases, and automatic doors.
The January 5 cyber attack also took down – and possibly corrupted – vital jail databases, including its incident-tracking database, which records all reports of violence at the facility such as fighting, use of force, and allegations of sexual assault.
In an emergency court notice, county lawyers noted that the “unusable” automated door system had meant “staff had to use keys to manually open facility doors.”

The OSHA Act does not authorize such expansive powers, the highest court of the United States said.
However, SCOTUS allows Biden's other vaccine mandate for healthcare employees at facilities receiving Medicare and Medicaid funds to stay.
