A blast and resultant fire in Athens Wednesday morning injured one person and caused extensive damage to several buildings in a 200-meter radius.
The substantial debris from the explosion combined with an unusually severe snowstorm in Greece has led to massive disruption in the city - with thousands of stranded motorists rescued by the army earlier in the week.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blast.

Russia Orders Warships into Black Sea
A fleet of more than 20 Russian warships and support vessels has set sail for exercises in the Black Sea amid rising tensions with NATO in Eastern Europe.
The Ministry of Defense in Moscow confirmed on Wednesday that the taskforce, which includes frigates, missile boats, minesweepers and amphibious assault vessels, had left the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk on the country's southern coast.
The ships will practice maneuvering and repelling aerial attacks, among other combat skills, officials have confirmed.

An oil slick containing around 43,000 gallons has leaked from an undersea pipeline near the Rayong province.
The region’s governor said the oil may hit some of Thailand’s most popular beaches by Friday, as authorities attempt to contain it.
Star Petroleum Refining, the company responsible for the contamination, said they had sealed the pipeline leak.
