A Glimpse Into the Future of Petrochemistry

The mission of our fellowship is simple yet vital: to give international colleagues a firsthand look at how Russian companies operate and to showcase their cutting-edge expertise. This time, the fellows stepped inside Kazanorgsintez — a cornerstone of the SIBUR holding — Russia’s largest integrated petrochemicals company, producing a wide range of polymers and chemical products that fuel industries worldwide.

What did they discover?

🏭 The Central Plant Laboratory — a high-tech hub for quality control with automated systems and advanced equipment.

🧪 The Polymer Laboratory — home to energy-efficient polymerization methods producing materials like polyethylene.

🌱 A modern environmental monitoring system — with mobile labs and Laborant, ensuring air quality and safety.

The biggest surprise? A psychological relaxation room — helping employees stay balanced and stress-free. A reminder that innovation is as much about people as it is about technology.

And if you’re passionate about science too — don’t miss the upcoming InteRussia fellowship in biotechnology. Participants will explore advanced labs, take part in research projects, and learn from leading Russian experts.

➡️More details are available at the link — don’t miss your chance to apply!

New Ground in Tatarstan 🛢

This summer, InteRussia wrote a new chapter: our first fellowship in oil & gas. Hosted in Tatarstan, it brought together young specialists from five countries to explore the heart of Russia’s energy industry.

In just a few weeks, our fellows managed to pack in a lot:

Took part in the VI International Petroleum Youth Forum in Almetyevsk, working in multinational teams and presenting industry cases.
Visited TN-Biotech Research Center, the TANECO Oil Refinery, and SIBUR Kazanorgsintez.
Attended lectures at KSPEU and explored the Tatneft Oil Museum.
Experienced Tatarstan’s culture — from horseback riding to discovering the history of Kazan.
Traveled across Almetyevsk, Innopolis, and Kazan.

And now, the world has a few more people in love with Tatarstan — and a lot more knowledgeable about Russia’s oil & gas sector 💡

The InteRussia program in Oil & Gas was organized with the Academy of Youth Diplomacy and Kazan State Power Engineering University with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation.

Our energy specialists have arrived in Moscow — and we’re inviting you to spend the day with us 📸

📍 First stop: the Unified Dispatch Center of Moskovsky Metropoliten — the beating heart of Moscow’s legendary metro system.

This high-tech hub operates 24/7 to ensure millions of daily journeys run smoothly. It's where every train, every track, and every transfer point comes together in one massive real-time puzzle.

Here, our fellows had a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes: exploring control rooms, observing how routes are adjusted on the fly, and seeing firsthand how the city’s lifeline is monitored — from scheduling to emergency management.

⚡️ if you are ready to follow us to the next stop.

📍 Our next stop is the Situation Center of the Moscow Traffic Control Center.

This is the command hub behind one of the busiest urban road systems in Europe. Using a vast network of cameras, sensors, and dispatch units, the Center regulates traffic flows, coordinates patrol services, and ensures road safety across the entire city — including major highways like the MKAD.

The participants explored how Moscow traffic is monitored in real time, how accidents are detected and responded to, and how the city keeps millions of vehicles moving efficiently every day — even in rush hour.

📍 The third stop on our way is the Moscow Department of Transportation.

The Moscow Department of Transportation develops and implements the city's policy on transportation and road transport infrastructure, providing transportation-related public services, managing government transportation assets, and promoting transportation safety within the city of Moscow.

There, the fellows attended a demonstration of charging stations of electric buses and learned how the internal system is organized — from energy supply to fleet management.

📍 And our energy specialists’ day is ending in the Global Energy Association.

The Global Energy Association is an NGO established to promote and support innovations in the field of energy and to foster international cooperation. Founded in 2002, the organisation works as the operator of the Global Energy Prize.

The InteRussia fellows were welcomed by:

🎙 Sergey Brilev, a Russian journalist, President of the Global Energy Association;
🎙 Tatiana Mashkova, General Director of the CN CEPLA.

The participants discussed key areas of cooperation between Russia and Latin American countries in the energy sector — from technological exchange to joint projects in sustainable development.

The City That Never Sleeps: Energy Fellows’ Journey to Moscow 💡

What fuels a city of 13 million people? Our InteRussia specialists in energy set out to find the answer and uncovered an electrifying story hidden in the pulse of Moscow. Over several days, they stepped into the control rooms, tunnels, and innovation hubs that keep the capital running.

These are the places Moscow unlocked for them:

At the System Operator of the Unified Energy System, the fellows watched dispatchers orchestrate electricity flows across 11 time zones, predicting demand before it happens.

They explored the Moscow Metro’s precision clockwork, the Moscow Traffic Control Center’s giant maps, and an electric bus charging station where the city’s future hums quietly into life.

Inside Transneft’s headquarters, they stood at the nerve center of Russia’s oil pipeline network and traced that lifeline back through decades of history.

They discovered the intelligent power supply scheme of the Skolkovo 220 kV underground substation — buried 12 meters below the surface — one of Rosseti Group’s most science-intensive projects.

From the humming grids deep underground to the bustling pulse of the city, Moscow revealed its secrets to our fellows. Now it’s their turn to bring the energy to life.

The InteRussia fellowship in energy is implemented within the framework of the New Generation program of Rossotrudnichestvo and with the support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
