😳 Apple scraps controversial iPad Pro ad campaign and apologizes

An iPad Pro commercial featuring a huge press destroying art and musical instruments has sparked a lot of negativity online.

Thor Muren, the company's vice president of marketing communications, formally apologized:

Creativity is in Apple's DNA, and it's incredibly important to us to develop products that empower creative people around the world.
Our goal is to honor the great many ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life with iPad. In this video, we missed the mark, and we're sorry.

According to Ad Age, the video was created by Apple itself, not a third-party agency.

As a result, Apple dropped all paid placements and TV airings of the video, but the video is still available on social media and YouTube.

📱 The iPhone 17 models will feature a refreshed design, front-facing camera improvements, a smaller Dynamic Island, and more

While the iPhone 16 lineup is still months away from being announced, rumors about the one-generation-away iPhone lineup typically begin to surface about a year-and-a-half before launch.

According to an investor note by Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 line will come with a refreshed design, as well as a smaller Dynamic Island. The iPhone 17 will allegedly have a 6.1'' screen, the iPhone 17 Pro will go with a 6.3'', and the Pro Max will be 6.9". Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Plus won't be called that - according to Pu, it will go by the name iPhone 17 Slim and will have a 6.6" screen.

That obviously implies it could be the thinnest of the four, which would be an interesting unique selling point for this model. The design of all four will apparently be "more complex" somehow.

The same source claims the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim will come with the A18 or A19 chip and 8GB of RAM, while the Pro and Pro Max will employ the A19 Pro and 12GB of RAM.

All four iPhone 17 models are said to sport 24 MP front-facing cameras, compared to 12 MP used currently.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is also rumored to get a narrowed Dynamic Island, while the other three will have to do with the current design of that feature. This will be made possible by a new "metalens" technology which will help Apple dramatically reduce the size of the Face ID sensor.
