🎛️ Apple has patented a new horizontal audio speaker system
The patent denoscription shows six illustrations, hinting that the speaker will be able to connect to other devices via cables – the back of the soundbar shows a number of ports.
The existing HomePod and HomePod mini models can't be connected to anything but a power cord.
However, the existence of an issued patent does not indicate that the product will be released at all.

🔋Possible alternative to MagSafe has been launched
Satechi yesterday announced the availability of its two new Qi2 charging stands, the 3-in-1 Foldable Qi2 Wireless Charging Stand and the 2-in-1 Foldable Qi2 Wireless Charging Stand. Qi2 is the latest version of the Qi standard, and it is comparable to MagSafe.
Qi2 uses magnets to ensure that smartphones are aligned properly with charging coils, and it is able to charge compatible iPhones at up to 15W. The faster Qi2 charging speeds are available on the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and all iPhone 15 models. Future iPhones, such as the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup, will also work with Qi2.
Qi2 is basically the same as MagSafe, but it is not being controlled by Apple, so Qi2 accessories can be a bit cheaper than MagSafe technology that manufacturers have to license from Apple.

☁️Some users are randomly getting locked out of their Apple ID accounts
There are widespread reports of Apple users being locked out of their Apple ID overnight for no apparent reason, requiring a password reset before they can log in again.
The log-outs weren't — or aren't, it's not clear yet — happening on one particular class of device. And, if you were impacted, it's across nearly all of your devices including HomePods, Apple TV hardware, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
It doesn't appear to be an organized hack or attack nor a mass-attempt at credential stuffing. Users aren't reporting two-factor authentication triggers or similar warnings.

📱Next-generation Apple CarPlay is not going to be used in Mercedes-Benz cars
This was announced by Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius on The Verge's Decoder podcast. According to him, the car's operating system is now responsible not only for infotainment functions, but also for autonomous driving, chassis, battery performance and many other components, so creating a "superior customer experience" is only possible when all aspects are the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Even though Apple announced Mercedes-Benz as its partner at the launch of the new CarPlay back in 2022, the auto giant plans to develop its own operating system. Mercedes' next-generation OS is scheduled to debut in 2025.
Meanwhile, support for first-generation CarPlay, which is a small add-on for controlling multimedia in the car, will remain in Mercedes cars.
