In Japan, samurai of the Tokugawa feudal house (1603-1867) used cats as living devices to determine the time of day. A cat's pupil has very high light sensitivity – its width can change with the lighting, allowing a specially trained person to quite accurately determine the time by the animal's eyes. And to protect their “clocks” during battle, Japanese warriors dressed cats in special samurai armor.

Been feeding this little girl since last winter and gave her a home in my garage. She always runs away when she sees anyone coming, so she hasn't been put into the fold yet. I'm happy to report that as of the last week, she will now approach and even lets me pet her. She's also got a belly full of kittens.
