Joseph Parker: “I Should Be Dubois’ Next Opponent, Not Usyk”

Joseph Parker, the former WBO heavyweight champion, has expressed frustration after his fight with Daniel Dubois was canceled due to Dubois’ illness. Parker, who has been chasing a noscript shot for nearly seven years, called the cancellation a major setback.

“It’s really frustrating when a noscript fight falls through. I was fully prepared, in great shape, and ready to claim the belt. Given the situation, Dubois should fight me, not Oleksandr Usyk,” Parker stated.

The British heavyweight believes he deserves another shot at the noscript and is determined to secure a rematch to continue his journey to the top of the division.

Michael Bisping and Jim Miller Call for Penalties for Eye Pokes

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and UFC veteran Jim Miller believe fighters should face penalties for eye pokes, even if they are unintentional.

Miller, who holds the record for the most UFC fights with 45 appearances, emphasized that despite his long career, he has never accidentally poked an opponent in the eye.

“It’s about discipline and control,” said Miller. “If you’re consistently poking someone in the eye, intentional or not, it affects the fight and puts your opponent at risk. There should be consequences.”

Bisping, who suffered permanent vision damage in his right eye after an infamous fight with Vitor Belfort, strongly supports this stance. “I know firsthand how devastating an eye injury can be,” said Bisping. “Fighters must be held accountable. A warning isn’t enough — point deductions should be automatic.”

Both Bisping and Miller argue that stricter enforcement of penalties would encourage fighters to be more cautious, ultimately making the sport safer and fairer.

Hooker Breaks Hand, Three Fighters Ready to Replace Him Against Gaethje at UFC 313

Dan Hooker has withdrawn from his UFC 313 fight against Justin Gaethje due to a broken hand suffered during sparring. “I was throwing hooks with full power, landed on my partner’s elbow, and felt immediate pain. I hoped it was just a bruise, but the X-ray showed a fracture,” Hooker revealed.

With Hooker out, the UFC is looking for a replacement, and three fighters have stepped up. Rafael Fiziev is eager for a rematch after his 2023 loss to Gaethje, saying, “If the UFC sets it up, I’m in.” Arman Tsarukyan also threw his name into the mix: “I can fight tomorrow if needed.” Meanwhile, former champ Charles Oliveira, now fully recovered from an injury, promised to put on a show.

The UFC is weighing its options, and an official replacement for Gaethje could be announced soon.

Chuck Wepner Turns 86 – The Man Who Inspired “Rocky”

Today marks the 86th birthday of Chuck Wepner, the boxer whose fight against Muhammad Ali inspired Sylvester Stallone to write Rocky. Despite being a massive underdog (odds were over 40-to-1 against him), Wepner shocked the world by knocking Ali down in the ninth round. Turning to his manager, he joked, “Start the car, we’re millionaires!” to which his manager replied, “Better turn around—he’s up, and he looks pissed.”

Known for his durability, Wepner took brutal punishment, with over 300 stitches to his face throughout his career. After the knockdown, Ali went on a rampage, shutting Wepner’s eyes and leaving him drenched in blood. In the 15th round, when Wepner himself hit the canvas, the referee told him, “Chuck, I’m stopping the fight—you’re losing too much blood.” Wepner, ever the warrior, responded, “At least let me finish the round.” The ref tested him: “How many fingers am I holding up?” Wepner grinned, “How many guesses do I get?”

Post-boxing, Wepner struggled with alcohol and drugs, even serving time for possession. But he turned things around, opening a wine shop with his wife in the 2000s—a business they still run. And despite facing legends like Sonny Liston and George Foreman, Wepner once admitted the only person who ever truly scared him was his wife.
