As our first project we decided to look into generating heating energy and electricity with home made biogas.

We have had three meetings and here are the notes:

TZM Finland has Koto coop project as its main project currently. While we feel like it would be nice to boycott money, we think that more effective way is to gather money and other resouces in an co-op and share them to members of that co-op. This makes members free to focus on more important things than just getting paid to survive. We can also provide work for people who will not or cannot take part in any tasks or jobs closely involved with the monetary system. This type of work is for example taking care of the land, buildings, persons and plants.

When the co-op grows, less involvement with money is needed because we can produce more and more what we need inside the co-op. In meeting yesterday we concluded that we will look more into five different ways to make money for Koto Coop. We have created four teams to move forward with these ideas. If you think that you would like to work on these matters please join these team chats.

This team is looking into how to use and create machines that we can use for creating and assembling things like FarmBots and hydroponic indoors farming systems etc. and if there is a possibility for example build and install them as a service.

This team looks for options to host online courses and workshops on various topics.

Development team:

Our second sprint on a mobile game has finished. Two sprints to go for the first release.

Less tasks than planned was done, but progress was made.

Here are noscripts of the tasks we completed:
- More options to change the color
- Software architecture and patterns for minigames
- Minigame selecting view
- Calculating, viewing and storing of science, development and maintenance scores
- Learning Godot: animations
- Starting the first minigame

There three weren't finished:
- Character creation: option to use different body types
- Learning Godot: sounds

In the next development team meeting we will plan the next sprint and create more tasks to backlog if needed. Next sprint will start tomorrow and will end on Saturday 3.10 (a day before the next development team meeting)
Today is our monthly Tuesday hangout at 16:00 UTC. Everybody is welcome!

We usually go through what has been happening in teams and how people could help, and after that it is open floor for anything people want to discuss.

The idea of Koto Coop started a couple of years ago in Finland and is a grassroots initiative for a sustainable future where we share our resources, meaning both our materials and our time. Koto co-op developers team update 6.12.2020:

We decided to put the game project on hold and for now focus on creating a website service for clients.

We wanted to update our own website so we used that as a test site for the platforms we plan to configure for clients to use. We managed to publish the website before z-day as planned. Check it out! https://kotocoop.org

We are using Hugo website generator to create websites and they are published on Gitlap pages. Next steps are to look into different editor options so clients (and our own editors) can make changes to content more easily and to make the process a service that clients can request.

The success of Koto Co-op depends on people. Noting will happen without the people. Right now we have around ten people actively involved. But we need much more. Therefore we invite you to join to Koto community.

Right now operation of Koto Co-op is organized to teams. These teams include developer team, communication team, Youtube team, and technology team. More teams will emerge when our activities grow and we get more people involved. Also our goal is to start our first living unit next spring and we are looking for people to join there as well.
When working in Koto community you get to create something new and challenge yourself while developing a sustainable world. You will become a part of a community where your efforts are appreciated. You get to work for enabling sustainable, communal, and more relaxed lifestyle for you and/or someone else. And above all, you get to make the world a better place.
Working in Koto Co-op is voluntary work, so you can join with low-threshold to work just as much as you can. We do not require any particular skills or education. There is a place for everyone who is interested and is ready to learn new things. Our only requirement is that you act with good team spirit and will respect other people in Koto community.

Tällä hetkellä Koto osuuskunta etsii ihmisiä erityisesti seuraaviin rooleihin:
1. Asukkaita ensimmäiseen yksikköön:
Tavoitteenamme on perustaa ensimmäinen asumisyksikkö ensi keväänä. Etsimme ihmisiä jotka olisivat valmiina olemaan kestävän yhteiskunnan pioneerejä. Heiltä vaadittaisiin kykyä heittäytyä mukaan uuteen ja erilaiseen. Tässä vaiheessa mukaan tulevat pääsevät vaikuttamaan suuresti esimerkiksi siihen, miten yksikkö on organisoitu ja missä se sijaitsee maantieteellisesti.
2. Vastuuhenkilöä myynti ja tuotekehitys tiimin vetäjäksi:
Tämä rooli on tärkeä Koto osuuskunnan toiminnan kasvattamiseksi ja kehittämiseksi. Tarkoituksenamme on suurimmilta osin rahoittaa toimintamme tekemällä työtä osuuskunnan ulkopuolelle. Kyseisen toiminnan edistämiseksi, myymiseksi ja kehittämiseksi tarvimme tiimin. Ja tätä tiimiä vetämään tarvitsemme vastuuhenkilön, joka tulee myös osaksi Koto osuuskunnan hallinnointi tiimiä.
Roolin keskeisimpänä osana on koordinoida tiimin toimintaa, mutta siinä pääsee myös käyttämään omaa luovuuttaan uusien palveluiden kehittämiseksi sekä toimimaan yhdessä koko Koto yhteisön kanssa.
3. Henkilöitä myynti ja tuotekehitys tiimiin:
Etsimme myös henkiöitä, jotka eivät ole kiinnostuneita vastuusta mutta joita myynti, markkinointi ja tuotekehitys kiinnostavat.
4. Tekniikan osaajia:
Teknologiatiimi etsii tekniikan osaajia, ammattilaisia, opiskelijoita ja muita kiinnostuneita. Ensimmäiseen yksikköön liittyen kaipaamme LVIS-asentajia ja rakentajia. Teknologia tiimin kehitysprojektien aloittamista varten tarvitaan myös yleisesti tekniikasta kiinnostuneita.
Toimintaan mukaan tuleminen ei vaadi paljoa aikaa. Yleisesti toimijoilta odotamme vain n. kaksi tuntia viikosta panosta ja vastuuhenkilöiltä hieman enemmän.

Currently Koto Co-op is looking for people particularly to these roles:
1.Residents to the first living unit: (Note, basics of the Finnish language is appreciated)
Our goal is to start the first unit next spring. We are looking for people that would be ready to act as pioneers of sustainable living. Open mindedness towards new ways of living and working. People joining in right now would get to affect the organization and location of the first unit.
2. Responsible person for sales and product development team:
This role is important for the growth and development of Koto Co-op. Our goal is to fund our operation mostly by doing work to outside of the co-op. For developing, enabling, marketing and selling these kinds of activities we would need a team that needs a responsible person. This responsible person would also join to Koto Co-op administration team.
The main part of the role is to coordinate this sales and product development team, but you also get to use your creativity in developing new services and also work together with the whole Koto community.
3. People to this sales and marketing team:
We are also looking for people that are not ready to take responsibility but are interested in sales, marketing, and product development.
4. People with technical knowledge or interest:
Technology team is looking for people with technical knowledge or interest, professionals, students and others interested. Regarding the first living unit we would really appreciate electricians, plumbers, and builders. For starting technical development project we need people that are interested in technology in general.
Joining to Koto commonity does not require much time. In general we expect only around two hours per week involvement and little bit more for the responsible person of the teams.
Hi everyone!

Koto is having a winter holiday for a few weeks now. Despite the pandemic try to enjoy yourself and be safe.

It has been an eventful year for Koto. For an organization based on voluntary work we have expanded quite fast, especially given the current world affairs. We started the year with Juuso Vilmunen, Juuso Määttä, and Tuomas Ceder and new people have joined in throughout the year. In the summer and fall we have started to create a basis for our organization. This work of defining, creating and developing our structure will continue next year.

Huge thanks to our YouTube, communication, and developer team for the great job this fall. Also special thanks to everyone that have attended the coordination meetings that we started to held towards the end of the year. Our next coordination meeting will be on 14.1.

Next year will start with publishing of our recruitment video, which is ready and just waiting to be published. While we continue to expand our operation and establish new teams our main project next spring is the first living unit.

Next year will certainly be an exiting year for Koto Co-op.
