Day 2 in Poland, June 11
We visited the Gdansk Bay area, spending 8 hours on the way, but it was worth it.🚗
It was my first time seeing the 🌊sea and feeling the waves, wind, and 🌩blue cloudy sky—all combined with tranquility. I really enjoyed and relaxed, ran on the 🏖sand, soaked my feet in the water, 🐚gathered shells, wrote my name and my family's names in the sand, and took lots of 📸aesthetic media.
I can say that it is a truly different feeling, and I wish everyone reading my post to visit such splendid places (sea, ocean) at least once in your lifetime.😊

The Old Town in Gdansk
While coming from the sea, we stopped in the Old Town of Gdansk, which retains the real characteristics of the pre-World War II Free City of Danzig. After World War II, although several old buildings remained in Gdansk, most were destroyed or severely damaged.

Meta Warsaw Open House - Enterprise Infrastructure and Security
The most exciting and unforgettable experience I've had in Warsaw so far was attending this unique event and being one of just 50 experienced engineers selected to participate. It was held at the RONDO Meta office on the 31st floor from 6 pm to 8 pm on June 11. The agenda included 10-minute presentations by Meta Engineers, a Panel Discussion, Q&A session, and the Meta Quest 3 random game (unfortunately, I wasn't the lucky winner), concluding with a networking session.
Most of the speakers came from Meta's California office to the PWiT summit and this specific event. All of them have over 10 years of experience in their fields. Meta is a strong engineering hub with solid AI plans for the future, intending to use it for automation, optimization, and categorization using GenAI. Meta's Llama comprises 7 billion models, and they're now utilizing RAGs to fit the models to the data for root cause debugging. Additionally, they're working on Transform Models, which are text-based data that can interact with humans, as well as Multimodality to analyze debugging UI components and charts/visuals. They're also focusing on Data Objects that have billions of dependencies, along with GenAI to cluster large operational issues.
Regarding how Meta utilizes AI/DevOps to increase security, they ensure that their developers use safe and private deployment environments. They acknowledge the existence of sophisticated emerging threats, requiring the leveraging of AI for vulnerability management, access management, and monitoring evaluation at scale. They also conduct regular network cleaning across different stacks.
As for the work culture at Meta, it thrives on tackling the biggest challenges and preparing for the AI era. There's strong team support (no solo work here), an understanding of people, and a willingness to take significant risks. If a newly implemented idea fails, it's okay; it's a blameless culture where investigations and deep research are conducted. Meta focuses on resilience and stability, with the EIS team fostering a collaborative environment and engaging in innovative projects. They aim to mitigate mistakes, promote quick resolution, and learn from them.
In terms of cybersecurity, Meta has Red, Blue, and Purple teams. They also outsource security solutions to third-party companies and offer enterprise services.
Regarding how Meta stores user data and handles transactions, the system is highly isolated, focusing on integrity, regulations, and embedding safety. They primarily work on retention components and data flow, utilizing cloud solutions.
At the Hacktober party, there will be fresh job openings advertised.
After the lectures, I had the opportunity to meet Chen Zheng, a Data Engineering Manager at Meta, who provided valuable insights and advice for my career path.
