Google announced its new quantum chip, Willow, has achieved a major breakthrough. Willow can solve tasks in 5 minutes that would take 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years for some of the world's fastest conventional computers to complete.
With 105 "qubits," the chip reduces error rates as qubit numbers grow, a crucial step toward making quantum computers practical.
Quantum computing promises speeds far beyond classical systems, with potential applications in medicine, Al, and chemistry. While the current problem solved has no commercial use, Google sees it as progress toward tackling real-world challenges.
Unlike its rivals focusing on qubit count, Google prioritizes reliability.
