On the 25 February 2024, Aaron Bushnell committed himself to the act of self immolation, which resulted in the end of his life. His protest was conducted in front of thr Israeli Embassy in Washington DC.
Aaron's statement began: "I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force. And I will no longer be complicit to genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest. But compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it is not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal."
He then began his protest.
While burning, he continued to recite: Free Palestine. Until the heat and flame took the oxygen from his lungs, his flesh melting.
An enforcement officer, drew their pistol at the burning man, and continued to hold Aaron at gunpoint even after he collapsed, even as others rushed to give aide.
Aaron did not survive, as that is the goal of the protest.

But why did he do this?
The extreme pain and death of self immolation is used as an extreme form of protest to symbolize the indescribable amount of pain the protest is focused on. The brutal nature and violent end of the life is the point of the demonstration.
The amount of suffering the Palestinian people now bear under the occupation and genocide by Israel is, extreme. The self immolation bears part of the pain in a form we can comprehend easier:
"I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest. But compared to what the people have been experiencing in Palestine [...], it is not extreme at all."
Aaron's protest was not only legitimate; but a powerful one.

What does this mean?
Many things can be taken from Aaron's demonstration, being that:
Many of those serving under the military (as Aaron was on active duty) could be beginning to or have been against involvement with Israeli'a genocide. Which implies that the American Government is beginning to fracture on its control.
The exposure of the Police State. Being that the mindset of a police is to use a weapon, a gun, over all other options. It does not matter if you need help, and dying; the gun will be pointed and directed at you.
People are beginning to act, and are tired of waiting for the United States to stop supporting the blatant genocide the Zionists are conducting.
Aaron must an icon of the anti-zionist movement, as his decision to bear the suffering and rage of the Palestinian people was of his own dedication. To bear that pain is certain death, and Aaron accepted this, even as he joined with fire, with a gun at his head.
The highest sacrifice.

Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now.

Imprisonment Monetation
The majority of prisons in the United States are actually privatized, to the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). The CCA runs a monopoly, controlling how and what goes on in their prisons.
The US government pays the CCA based on how many prisoners are incarcerated on their establishments, and after decades of Lobbying and Influencing state and federal politics, have managed to change laws, or make them stricter, with more Punishment oriented towards Imprisonment.
More people Incarcerated means more Profit.
Slavery is actually very common in the United States, but it's form has changed: Instead of the Negro on the South Plantation, it is the Prisoners of the Justice System. In the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, Prisoners working regular jobs under the prison receive No Pay for their work: blatent Enslavement. A regular job in a prison ennoscripts a prisoner nearly 15 cents an hour, more specialized jobs in a prison can vary between 33 cents, and less than 2 dollars an hour: yet another, clear show of Exploitation.
Prison Labour contributes over 4 billion dollars in revenue in the United States. And many of the work prison laboring does is of the maintenance of the prison.
It only continues to get worse. These prisons and its system lack an immense amount of education and Reintagration programs. By "Reintagration", we mean sources and help for Prisoners to be part of Society after release. But less Prisoners mean Less Profit. So these services are often voided in CCA prisons.
Human psychology also dictates the importance of social interactions, and the psychological harm in long term isolation. Of course, many prisons are now designed solely for single cell, solitary confinment, and newer prisons are now solely Solitary Confinment. A solitary Confinment means nearly all hours of the day are spent in a tiny, bare cell, with only limited necessities. Food is given by a hatch in the door. Now think of this every day for weeks, months, or years.
These "Malpractices" in the Prison System are Purposeful. As the psychological impacts on prisoners makes it harder to readjust to society. Meaning they resolve back into the original bad habits, bringing them right back into prison. The cycle continues.
The Corrections Corporation of America makes over 75 billion dollars a year. A rate that is greater than the GDP of over 130 nations around the world. The majority of this monetary rate comes directly from the taxes of the citizens of America.
The American Prison System is the modern day Slavery for the United States.

"It is impossible for capitalism to survive, primarily because the system of captalism needs some blood to suck. Capitalism used to be like an eagle, but now it's more like a vulture. It used to be strong enough to go and suck anybody's blood whether they were strong or not. But now it has become more cowardly, like the vulture, and it can only suck the blood of the helpless. As the nations of the world free themselves, the capitalism has less victims, less to suck, and it becomes weaker and weaker. lt's only a matter of time in my opinion before it will collapse completely."

When your coworker says their "just not into politics"...
...your boss is. And every day your boss uses their political knowledge and power to keep your pay low, deny your benefits, weaken your safety protections, and eliminate your unions.
You do not need to be into politics, but the awareness of politics and your rights are ESSENTIAL!
Do not allow yourself further expoitation!

This applies to more Than a coworker and bosses.
Queerfolk NEED to have awareness of the politics concerning their identities and rights. A queer person saying they ignore politics is the equivalent of an ostrich putting its head to the ground when seeing a hunter. Not only do they blind themselves, but are willingly ignorant of any threats and harm that may come to them.
Fascists are dehumanizing queerfolk and labeling them as child predators, with many bills implying death as a punishment for being openly queer.
Being aware of queer in politics gives us all unity and capability to fight back harmful actions against queerfolk.
Again, a queer person does not need to be into politics, a queer person needs to be AWARE of politics.

The constant overbearing amount of out-of-school "homework" assignments is done to condition children into accepting and normalizing unpaid overtime, excessive and ridiculous work hours, and inability to escape work even when out of it, as part of their future.
A student should be encouraged to explore the world and research and learn themselves when out of school, not be coerced into spending several more hours of their day doing the things they should be doing in school.
A teacher's inability to teach a class in a timely manner should not mean giving overbearing "homework" constantly to students.

The absolute mental gymnastics of the Neo-Liberal to compare Aaron Bushnell's and Thích Quảng Đức's self immolation to ""prove"" that Aaron's act was stealing another martyrs act.
Self Immolation is not cultural appropriation. That is obvious, because self immolation is not a cultural part of Buddhist ideology. The only part of the immolation of Thích Quảng Đứof that is a cultural symbol is the intact heart of monk.
The Immolation of Thích Quảng Đức was in protest of the South Vietnamese government, an oppressive regime controlled by the minority of Roman Catholicism. Buddhism was the majority of the population, but were immensely harassed, attacked, imprisoned, forced off of their homes and property, and forced to convert to Catholic.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
The Neo-Liberals in their attempt to discredit Aaron by misinterpreting the comparison to the monk, show that neo-Liberals are coping from the overwhelming outcry against the Zionist regime, and inadvertently reminds us of similar genocides.
