Pinkwashing creates the False Hope for those desperate to Deny its Truth, it's very effective to garner the support from queer when the opposition force are openly Fascist, bent on the annihilation of queer. No matter how many sidewalks and stairs they paint rainbow, the bastard cops are still brought in to disperse pride.
With a Democrat, it is not "kill the man because he is gay", but rather "kill the gay man because he is lower class". And that makes democrats a threat to queer.
