The mother of the student in question is a January 6th lawyer who on her social media has been touting that transgender people should not be allowed to teach or work in any academic field. It's a blunt way to make working while trans an impossibility.

If enough right wing people complain online about a company hiring a transgender person they will find a way to get you fired is the standard the right wing wants to set.
