Guinness record-breaking robot! 🥇
A robot that sinks an 80-foot shot, and sets a new robot record. 🏀
Toyota’s humanoid CUE6 landed the farthest basketball shot ever by a humanoid robot at 24.55 m (80 ft 6 in) in Nagakute, Japan in September 2024.
It’s not the first time CUE has made headlines. Back in 2019, the earlier CUE3 model made 2,020 consecutive assisted free throws, also earning a Guinness World Record.
For the record-breaking long shot, engineers used machine learning to fine-tune posture, release angle, and force based on repeated trials.
This project demonstrates how precision mechanics, advanced sensing, and AI-driven control can combine to master highly dynamic tasks.

South Korean scientists have created a shape-shifting liquid robot.
A liquid-particle composite called a Particle-armored liquid roBot can deform, engulf, and merge without losing its structural integrity, enabling it to perform functions that are difficult for rigid robots.

The Pitts Sky Car, designed by John W. Pitts in the 1920s, was an experimental vertical take-off aircraft intended to function like a helicopter.
It featured a unique "mushroom-shaped" rotor with 60 hinged blades to generate lift. Despite attempts in 1928, the prototype only bounced on the ground, failing to achieve sustained flight.
Though unsuccessful, it is recognized as an early precursor to modern VTOL technology.
