The telescope fish is a deep-sea predator perfectly adapted to life in total darkness. Living more than 2,000 meters below the ocean's surface, it has long, tubular eyes that face forward-providing binocular vision to detect prey in the depths.

Unusually for a fish, its eyes can swivel, helping it track movement in the pitch-black waters.
