We would like to report that at Friday 7 August at 4:45 GMT some Lightstreams systems were not reachable due to the expiry of an SSL/TLS certificate. This affected some internet services such as the main website of Lightstreams that required a valid certificate. This did not in anyway affect the Lightstreams blockchain network that continued uninterrupted.

We will monitor more closely the expiry of such certificates so that these sort of issues do not occur in the future.

ANNOUNCEMENT: After reviewing our strategy over summer, the Lightstreams team has decided to shift focus to support DeFi applications, a more than $1B industry that is currently suffering from high gas prices. Until now our focus has been on supporting peer-to-peer privacy for DApps. Recently, we completed a security audit with TrailOfBit for our Smart Vault product, which we will continue to support. More details on this strategy will be announced in various publications to come.

Developer Workshop Tomorrow - Digital Content Privacy using Ethereum + IPFS

In this workshop, you will learn how to use smart contracts to manage the exchange of data using the Smart Vault. The Smart Vault is useful for use cases such as creating a decentralized Netflix or for managing personal information in self-sovereign applications. Files of any type and size can be exchanged based on rules programmed into a smart contract. The session will do a deep dive into how IPFS is used for the peer-to-peer exchange of data and Ethereum for creating security rules so that only authorized people can access the data.
