Fluctuation-induced current from freestanding graphene
At room temperature, micron-sized sheets of freestanding graphene are in constant motion, even in the presence of an applied bias voltage. We quantify the out-of-plane movement by collecting the displacement current using a nearby small-area metal electrode…
TLDR: Economics looked weird to math-savvy people because... it used the wrong null hypothesis for 350 years, piling corrections on top.

The ergodicity problem in economics
Nature Physics - This Perspective argues that ergodicity — a foundational concept in equilibrium statistical physics — is wrongly assumed in much of the quantitative economics...
Communication-Safe Web Programming in TypeScript with Routed Multiparty Session Types

Oh wow, a network that enhances photorealism of rendered images — we might finally see indie games that need realistic visuals, not just a heavily-stylized ones!
Also grass, hair, fur and other stuff still notoriously difficult to render conventionally

Not to sound arrogant but… reminds me of that famous paper where medical researcher rediscovers integration.
I mean, isn’t encoding data via phase difference about the only way you can transmit both continuous variables and events that is resistant both to “dc offset” and fading?
I always assumed biological neurons *have* to work this way…

Neurons Unexpectedly Encode Information in the Timing of Their Firing
A temporal pattern of activity observed in human brains for the first time may explain how we can learn so quickly.
