Hello book lovers,
We’re glad to share the next chapter with you!

You highlight a line, it sparks a thought — and now it’s easier than ever to capture, organize, and keep those thoughts close.
Here are the latest updates in LITERA Reader!

Notes for quotes:
Sometimes a line hits differently, and you want to add your own words. Now you can: click the Social Activity Button (👥) on the navigation bar, right next to the text settings panel — and from there, add a new note or continue an existing one. Your reflections are instantly linked to the quote and always stay attached to the passages that matter most.

Quotes by color:
Highlights piling up? Now you can filter quotes by color using the Social Activity Button (👥). Want to see only your yellow study notes? Or the red sparks of creativity? One click — and everything is neatly sorted, ready to use.

Private quotes:
Some ideas are just yours — personal, private, meaningful. With this update, you can make any quote (together with its notes) private through the edit menu. It’s a small switch, but it gives you full control.

Watch the video to see these features in action.
Every detail matters. With each update, LITERA Reader becomes more than just a place to read — it becomes a place to think, to create, to keep what’s important.

Highlight. Quote. Note. Keep it yours.

Greetings, readers!
With every update, we’re making LITERA more comfortable and easy to use.
This time, we’ve added two features to help you keep your notes safe and manage quotes more flexibly.

Undo delete (for quotes with notes):

Accidentally removed a quote with a note? Now you can bring it back.
When you delete a quote that has a note from the book content or the Social Activity Button(👥), a small UNDO window appears for a few seconds. Click it, and your quote is restored together with the note. No more lost ideas.

Private quotes via the Social Activity Button:

Previously, you could make quotes private only via the quote’s edit menu in the book content.
Now you can also do it directly from the Social Activity Button 👥, which gives you more convenience. Once a quote is set to private, a lock icon 🔒 will appear to indicate its status, and the note attached to this quote will also become private.
Everything works together to keep your thoughts protected.
More options, same privacy.
Two updates today, many more to come. We’re glad you’re here with us.

Stay tuned!

Your Book, Your Way: Discover Litera’s Customization Tools

Reading is personal. Everyone has their own rhythm, their preferred light, and a favorite font. With Litera, you can shape the look and feel of your book to make every page truly yours.

It all starts with a click on the Aa button. This opens up our most flexible feature—text customization. What began as a few basic options has grown into a full suite of tools designed around your personal reading experience.

Your settings are quick to set up and stay with you—your space, saved and ready.

Let’s start with light mode.
Some love reading in morning brightness, others in the calm of the night. Here you can switch between Light and Dark modes. For total immersion, try Extra Dark (available for PDF and DJVU files), where the text seems to glow from within.

Next, choose your page view.
On desktop, you can enjoy a two-page layout, like holding a real book open, or a single-column view. On mobile, PDF and DJVU files use a single-page view, while other formats let you switch between vertical and horizontal scrolling. Litera adapts to your device and your comfort.

Now for fonts—where choice is part of the pleasure:

- PT Serif or Times for a timeless, printed-book feel.
- Noto Sans or Verdana for a clean, modern look.

Adjust the size and line spacing with a slider or use the larger/smaller text buttons.
A quick tip: when you increase the text size, add a little more space between lines—your eyes will thank you.

Prefer tidy pages? Turn on indentation. If you like your text to breathe, add space between paragraphs. For a polished, printed-page finish, choose justified alignment.

Reading on a narrow screen? Enable word division to keep the text neat without breaking the flow.

If anything looks off, a single click on Default LITERA or FILE settings will reset everything to normal.

A few favorite combinations from the Litera team:

- Night mode: Dark + Noto Sans + increased line spacing — perfect for late-night focus.

- Study mode: PT Sans + larger font + quote markers on — great for learning and annotating.

- Long reading: PT Serif + justified alignment + standard indent — calm, balanced, and easy to follow.

Try one of these presets, then tweak it your way.

Litera isn’t just a reading tool—it’s a space that bends to your rhythm, your light, your pace. Set it up once, and every book will feel uniquely yours.

Reader’s Corner: Answers to Common Questions

After our previous post about feedback, many of you wrote to us not only with new ideas and kind words, but also with small, thoughtful questions that help make reading smoother.
We loved your messages and how engaged you are with the details of Litera.
Today, we’ve gathered the most common questions and answered them all in one place.

Zoom and Text Size

A question we often hear:
“Why do some books have zoom buttons, while others don’t?”

The zoom control — those familiar “+” and “–” icons — appears in page-based formats like PDF, DJVU, or CBZ.
Since these pages have a fixed layout, zooming adjusts the entire image.
By contrast, flow-based formats such as EPUB, FB2, HTML, or DOCX are flexible, adapting text to your screen size.
That’s why instead of zoom, you can adjust font size in the Aa panel, using the “A A” buttons or the slider.
It’s a more natural way to fine-tune your reading view without distorting the layout.

Theme Switching

“Where can I find the theme switch?”

If you prefer reading in Light or Dark mode, the option is right there in the Aa panel — the very first buttons at the top.
Switching themes takes just one tap, instantly adjusting the look of your reading space to your surroundings.

Two-Page Mode and arrows

Inside the Aa panel, you can switch between a single-page and a two-page view. In the two-page mode, you can flip through pages using the keyboard arrows or! - the small on-screen arrows placed on the left and right sides of the page. In whatever way feels right for you.

Search in Flow-Based Books

Another frequent question:
“Can I search inside EPUB or FB2 books?”

For now, it works through Ctrl + F, but a built-in search feature is on our development roadmap.
We’ll share an update as soon as it’s ready.

And finally, thank you for your messages.
We truly read them all, and they always make our day brighter.
Here are a couple that recently warmed our hearts:

“Wow, I remember LITERA Reader was so rudimentary a few months ago and now it works amazingly well. Good job!”

“And thank you again for your efforts to make this platform work — you guys are the true warriors for the human future.”

Together, we’re shaping what digital reading can feel like.

Something exciting is coming soon — stay tuned.
See you between the lines.

Finding Your Way: Navigation Inside Litera Reader

Litera is built to make reading feel natural and navigation smooth.
Here’s a quick reminder of the tools that help you move through your book and always find your place.

Table of Contents

At the top, the list icon opens your table of contents.
It lets you jump to any chapter with a single click.

In some flow-based formats — like EPUB, FB2, or DOCX — the table of contents is generated automatically.
That’s why you might see noscripts such as “AUTOGENERATED SECTION 1.”
It’s not an error, but a technical structure inside the file itself.
(We don’t plan to change this, since it ensures the content displays correctly and the reader stays stable.)

Arrows

The simplest way to turn pages is with the arrows.
You can use your keyboard or the small on-screen buttons on each side of the page.
They’re especially handy in two-page view — so you can flip through your book without breaking the reading flow.

Pan Mode

Need to explore an image or a detailed page?
Turn on Pan Mode — it lets you move freely across the page by dragging, as if you were holding it in your hands.
Perfect for books with illustrations, diagrams, or tables.

Navigation is designed to stay simple and reliable.
We’re already working on more updates to make your reading even smoother.

See you soon right here, with the next chapter of Litera.
