Death of Spoilers

Hey so on the podcast this week we arrived at the shocking death of Mr Eko. Every time I watch the show it gets me blubbing, he was such a wonderful character who felt like he had so much more story left to tell. Obviously Adewale wanted out so we lost him before they planned to, how do you think Mr Ekos story goes from The Cost of Living onwards if he didn't die there?

Would really love and appreciate any support on the podcast and any feedback, we're putting a lot of effort into it it's just so tough trying to get noticed. Give us a shot were good eggs ☺️❤️

This subreddit

Is going to have me rewatching this show again just two months after a recent rewatch.

Watched the show live when it was airing and it quickly became my fave show of all time.

I have since rewatched it maybe 6-7 times and recently completing a rewatch about a couple months back.

I stopped using Reddit for almost 5 years and even when I was using it heavily back in the day, I never thought about joining TV show subreddits.

So I come across the Lost sub after my recent rewatch and seeing all the Easter eggs, discussions and what not, I am so tempted to rewatch this show AGAIN and so SOON!!!

I have a huge backlog in movies and tv shows so I'm trying my hardest to refrain but this sub doesn't make that easy.

Kudos to the community, and welcome to all the new watchers!!!

Cheers!

Why do all of the DHARMA guns have short magazines?

All of the AK style rifles seem to have low capacity magazines? Any reason for this?

Does anyone else find it hilarious that jack took the time to make a model plane out of a leaf in the pilot episode?

I always laugh during that expository scene where jack tries to explain the plane crash in the pilot episode. In the midst of all the trauma and chaos, jack painstakingly makes a model plane to explain to the losties. "My presentation needs some visual aids, better sit down and make this leaf while all of us are struggling to survive and multiple people are dying."

Irony of Hatch Button

I can’t wrap my head around the hatch button. It needed to be pressed every 108 minutes for years but it didn’t need to be pressed after all. Not pressing the button made Desmond use the failsafe key and gain special electromagnetic ability.

Was it “free will” to press the button all those years only to turn the failsafe in the end? Was it “fate” the button didn’t need to be pressed and make Desmond to be a weapon against MiB?

A lot of characters argued whether the button should be pressed or not. I guess everyone was right and wrong at the same time?

The Rules

What’s the deal with “the rules”?

Were they something that had actual power, or just an agreement between Jacob and The Man in Black? If The Man in Black really wanted to, could he have killed Jacob and the candidates himself or left the Island without them?

And what was the deal with Ben saying, “you changed the rules” when Keamy killed Alex? Who changed the rules? What rule got changed?

Is this the "real" Charlie?

https://preview.redd.it/a7x4aludnelf1.png?width=470&format=png&auto=webp&s=68ef7322389c1acce84485891f1159623f5c731b

>!In season 4 episode 1 when Charlie visits Hurley at the mental hospital, is that supposed to be the actual spirit of Charlie that he is seeing from after he moved on, or is the island just using the form of Charlie to deliver a message? Is this supposed to be an implication that the people in the church might still have a tangible form wherever they moved on to, or is the Charlie that Hurley is seeing only a temporary projection from the source and nothing more. Personally, I’d like to believe the former because my head cannon is that they all still exist in some sort of concrete form, but I’m not sure if that is the way we are supposed to read into it. !<

What if they let ben go?

When sayid and danielle found ben in a trap, what if sayid let him go unharmed? Would he still try to intervene with the oceanic 815 survivors?

To most, it’s a map of an island, but to the few who know, it’s THE Island.

You get full creative control of a LOST remake, what would you change? (Spoilers)

I love the show as it is obviously and I don't even want a remake, but assume there was one and YOU were in full creative control, what would you change?

Personally I would extend Eko's story and try to keep Walt main cast throughout, which would be the most challenging part. Alternatively Walt could just come back in Season 6 and replace another character, and perhaps Eko only appears in the Flash Sideways again.

I would also add a singular line to the submarine where Jin or Sun tell Kate, Hurley or anyone else that they should please watch over Ji-Yeon.

Also, the writers talked about how they needed an ending to properly pace the show, which is a main reason S3 starts with so much filler. In hindsight and with knowledge of where the show is going, I think the first 3 seasons could likely all be shortened to 16-18 episodes easily. No need for 20+

Would love to hear your guy's suggestions! And please, provide some detail, don't just say "Remove Zoe" because that's a boring answer we've heard 1000 times. Come up with alternatives!

Great ending. They were not dead the whole time.

I really like the ending. It’s clear they were not dead the whole time. Different people died at different times.
It was the most significant time in everyone’s lives and so they meet up after death. Time is irrelevant.
Jack died in the bamboo. Hurley and Ben took care of the island, dying much later.
Kate, James and others made it off the island, dying at some point.
Others died earlier.

First timer, watched the whole thing in a few weeks.

So, I’m sure “heaven” or wherever everyone moved onto is great and all that. I can’t speak for certain because I don’t know what kind of spiritual or mental things everyone experiences in the final episode, but I’m on team Ben. If I could “move on,” from whatever place the side story of season 6 is, I would hang out a while. It seemed like the place where if you try you get what you want, similar to the island. They all may be ready to move on but so many of them just got their memories back. And to us the audience at least, it was only memories of the island or island adjecent story.

Also I know Ben is staying because he has to work thru some stuff where everyone else seems pretty actualized from their afterlife experience. I’m just saying like Eloise for instance is choosing to stay in this limbo place. Which is my point, you don’t know what lies waiting beyond the church doors so why leave when this place seems good for a while.

Sun, Jin, and Sayid (SPOILER)

If sawyer hadn't pulled the wires on that bomb the show would have ended there and they wouldn't have died which is what made their deaths so painful. There's no reason to have believed Jack so it makes sense what happened but still so tragic. :((

DO NOT DO THIS TOUR

(longer version of a comment I made on a Reddit thread discussing this)

Okay I have to get this off my chest because I can't take it anymore. I usually try not to shit talk or complain about these types of things, but I am just as angry as I was when this happened, and I feel like I need to share this (or at least get it out of my brain).

So in July, my family went to Hawaii for my parent’s 20th anniversary. My birthday happened to fall on the week that we were there. Because of this, we booked a LOST tour on the website https://losttourshawaii.com/. Take a second to browse the website. I did the North Shore Tour. I was incredibly excited for this, as LOST is my all time favorite show. LOST has been so important to me for years, and I was over the moon to get to visit all the filming locations.

We booked the tour for the day of my birthday. The day before, my brother found this reddit page: https://www.reddit.com/r/lost/comments/1hvb5u0/somewhat_disappointing_lost_tour_in_hawaii/

My brother mentioned how, according to Reddit, one of the tour guides is creepy and convinced that all the characters in the show are dead and in purgatory.

Let me say one thing– THEY ARE NOT DEAD. It's obvious to anyone who's watched the show, but more on that later.

I was praying that we wouldn't get the crappy tour guide, as the tour was expensive and it was going to be on my birthday.

That morning, my family and I woke up around 6:30 for the 7:30 pickup time– (it was 7 or 7:30, I don't exactly remember). The tour guide picked us up at our hotel.

Now on the website, they showed Hummers going through the forest, and the section mentioning the North Shore Tour mentioned some hiking. What it actually was, was a van, and a lot of driving on the highway. I understand that Honolulu to the North Shore is about an hour drive, but literally most of the tour was driving. No forests or hummers, just a van and highways.

Now for the ‘good’ part. Our tour guide Greg. When we got into the van, my mother mentioned I was a big fan of the show. Greg grilled me over trivia questions to, I guess, try to prove he knew more than me. It was odd. He also, almost immediately, mentioned his theory that everyone on the island is in purgatory.

Now, I'm not someone who holds her opinions to herself, and I told the tour guide I thought he was wrong. That's because he is wrong. The writers said they weren't dead the whole time, multiple actors have said they weren't dead the whole time.

One of the reasons Greg said he thought they were all dead was ‘no one could have survived the plane crash’. Firstly, it's a fantasy/sci-fi tv show, so it's not scientifically accurate. Secondly, not everyone survived the plane crash, MOST of the people on the plane died. Also how did people come and go from the Island to the real world if they were dead? Also, if they were dead, why does everyone actually go into the afterlife in the series finale?? If they were already in the afterlife, how did they go into the afterlife again? A lot of Greg’s theory relies on the idea that the stuff that happens in the show isn't realistic to real life. It's a TV show, a fantasy/sci-fi tv show… of course it's not realistic.

Anyway, he refused to shut up about his theory for the ENTIRE TOUR. We kept trying to get him to stop talking about it, but he kept bringing it up.

He also was creepy to me. Now I was with my father, mother, and brother, which is good because Greg was making me uncomfortable. I am a 19 year old girl. He kept looking at me through the rearview mirror. He also kept saying things to me like, ‘you're such a smart girl’, or ‘you're very intelligent for your age’. CREEPY. Greg also was OBSESSED with Evangeline Lilly. He pulled up a photo of Kate in a swimsuit and showed it to us for way too long. He kept saying how pretty he thought she was in a really strange, creepy way. It reminded me of those celebrity superfans that end up killing their idols. He mentioned a lot of the women in LOST were really pretty and attractive, which creeped me out.
He mentioned Evangeline Lilly so much during the tour.

Greg mentioned to us that he was an extra in LOST– (he showed us pictures of him in the show, but I can’t confirm or deny if he was in the show, as I couldn't find his name anywhere in the credits of LOST, or the full IMDb, or cast list). He claimed that the scene where Desmond sees his coworkers ripped hazmat suit was improvised because they only had one suit, and Greg had ripped the leg with a knife. This is not true. The whole ripped hazmat suit is so integral to the plot for that season, that there is no way that it was randomly improvised. If it was improvised, that means the writers wrote new lines for the actors, the actors memorized those lines while filming, they also came up with the choreography and camera shots all on set? Seriously Greg, we all call bullshit on that.

Greg mentioned that the song ‘You All Everybody’ is a stolen song, and that the writers stole the chorus from an already existing song. That's not true. I watched an interview with the writers where they mentioned that the ‘You All Everybody’ song came from a line a stand-up comedian said during a show, and that they wrote the melody based on that line.

Greg also kept mentioning how awful the cast of LOST was. Now I’m sure that things might have happened on set, and I know not everyone is perfect, but Greg was just telling us over and over about how terrible cast members were, in a way that made it look like everyone in the cast is a bad person. I don't want to repeat what he said about certain actors, only because I couldn't find any evidence of any of those things being true, and I don't want to slander people that, from what I can find, don't deserve it. Greg was an extra in three scenes, and had no lines. He acts like he was super involved in the show, but he was not, I can assure you.

I genuinely can not describe how much of a downer this tour was. Greg seemed to be on a mission to make LOST seem like a crappy sad show, made by mean people. He also kept bringing up politics, a topic I made it clear I didn’t want to talk about. Politics stress me out more than anything else, and all I wanted was to not have a panic attack on my birthday.

I still can't watch LOST anymore. I watched this show religiously for two years, and I genuinely can't watch it anymore. This ruined LOST for me, please don't go on this tour. I still love talking about LOST, if you see my Tumblr or talk to me at all, you can tell I do, but I can't bring myself to watch the show, as Greg made it miserable. He seems intent on being miserable, and warping reality and facts to make everyone around him miserable too. People have mentioned that it seems he’s going through some personal issues, but I, frankly, don’t care. I hated the comments he made about me, especially because I am only 19. I hated how he talked about women in general, especially Evangeline Lilly. I hated how he tried to make the cast members seem like shitty people. I’ve met cast members from LOST, and everyone has been so incredibly lovely and happy and that's what people should hear about, not Greg’s lies.

I think the LOST tour is part of a bigger tour company. Greg seems to be the only person who does the LOST tours, but there are other tours on the website for other movies/shows. I really want to find out who runs this company, as I really, really feel like Greg needs to be reported. I have seen a ton of negative reviews for Greg, a lot of it matching my experience. When you look up ‘LOST Tours’, the second website that comes up is the Reddit talking about how awful Greg is.

Please don't go on this tour, Greg ruined not only my birthday but also one of the things I hold dear to my heart.
