Just Finished for the First Time
I've learned to let go.
I've never heard spoilers through the years and this is my first time even searching this subreddit.
I crafted a theory after about halfway through season 1. That theory was that everyone in the plane crash died. The "survivors" of the crash are on an island of limbo, an in-between for them to make right with their previous ways. The people who are dieing on the island have made peace with their old lives and are ready to move on to "heaven/hell". This started making more sense once the brother/half sister died... They were able to redeem themselves. It also made sense when the Others took the good people away. I suppose this was Jacob's list. I felt pretty proud of myself, but I also was second guessing myself because I knew the writers had too many characters to service and giving them an arc and killing them off was an easy way to become more plot focused.
Then of course things got weird in season 3 and 4. Season 4 was an amazing season finale. I enjoyed everything about it. I guess I would have liked to know more about why Ben and Whitmore hated each other.
The finale... Was somewhat gratifying that my theory was mostly correct in that everyone was dead, but the timelines were a bit confusing. I'll have to do some research on this sub to fully understand it. But my thought process is that the main timeline is when flight 815 crashed on the island (the island exists). The events that that Jack and crew experience are what they experience as they are dead. The season 6 reality of the flight landing, is the final waiting room before heaven/hell.
So basically there were two waiting rooms after dieing and before going to heaven/hell. The Island and the season 6 reality of the plane landing safely.
I could be totally wrong, but that's how I see it in my mind.
Anyways, if you read this far I appreciate it and it was a good sifi show. Not perfect, but glad it happened to help create soft sifi as more of a major category for TV shows.
Finally, I'm happy to be done with the show. Season 5 was a slog and at least season 6 had some answers. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else on the sub enjoyed about the show.
Ps. I loved all the little Easter eggs that were placed through the entire series. Also, I thought they did an amazing job with continuity. Jin had to wear those handcuffs for waaaayyyy too long in season 1. Also Giranamo Jackson showing up at least once a season was hilarious.
Pss. Locke as Heisenberg in Breaking Bad would have worked well. He had great chemistry with Aaron Paul.

Please help find old song
Hi please help me find this song
I have no lyrics but i know its 2000's-90's and the music video is of a group of people running through the forest while a green beam shoots from the sky and turns them to stone, they make it to the edge of the forest but a girl is turned to stone just before she gets out and is transported to a black void where the singer is and her statue body breaks into little pieces. Its sound reminds me of incubus. Thank you

First time watching/finishing question
What was Jacob’s story? Why are they able to pass on the responsibility of taking care of the island? Is that an eternal role? Why is his (adoptive) mom? I understood the implications for all the seasons but the last season didn’t make sense (but was satisfying as a conclusion).
My impression was that the island was purgatory and that’s what made it the battleground for morality. It defied the laws of nature and was where people with gray morales were stranded. But we see people leave the island willingly??
I’ve googled a lot and have become more confused as I read more. What the hell happened at the end? Was Desmond the real main character instead of Jack?? (My personal theory because I love Desmond shhhhh).

Spoilers Walt Storyline
I’m on my first rewatch and what still confuses me is the Walter storyline, they seem to set him up as a mystical seer of something. All for him to just disappear and not go back to the island with everyone else? I couldn’t find anyone talking about this before sorry if it’s a repeat I’d just like some clarity lowkey, was there a storyline that was thrown out, I thought everything was planned from the start. But I understand that later seasons of any show get messy and things have to change.

Juliette and Kate
Kate is such an annoying character. She is irrational, temperamental, overly emotional and kind self centered.
And nothing highlights all of her flaws more than her being trapped w Juliette, who is level headed, intelligent and thoughtful.
In the first 2 seasons Kate kind of had this intriguing mystery to her, though I dont believe Evangeline Lily's acting really did Kate's character justice.
However, in the third season they reduced her to this like temperamental toddler thats always lashing out at people and throwing tantrums and is self righteous and makes all of these stupid decisions.

Faith and Reason Quotes
Hi! I'm writing a short essay on the relationship between faith and reason. Which Lost quotes do you think best exemplify the dicotomy and conflict between these two great themes?

Favourite Lost Moments?
Just wanted to feel some nostalgia, what are some of your favourite Lost moments? Marking this with the Spoilers tag.
I think mine will forever be when Hurley got the van working, but some honourable mentions are when Walt reunites with Vincent, Sayid gets the picture of Nadia back, or any time Desmond says "I'll see you in another life brother"... or refers to John as Boxman. And Ben explaining about the hamster wheels that power everything. Man, what a show.

The Episode Raised by another scared me more than any other Lost Episode
In the beginning of Season 1 Episode 10, Claire wakes up in the jungle, Unpregnant and she's locke sitting at a table drawing cards and he says, ''You gave him away Claire, Now everyone pays the price now, Claire turns around and sees a crib empty and drenched with blood and then she wakes up screaming, and the second night she sees someone covering her mouth and stabs her pregnant belly, she then wakes up and screams the second time
To me this is the darkest lost episode I ever watched, because nothing is more disturbing than any scene involving an infant child being harmed, and I somewhat find this similar to the Dexter Episode Seeing red, where dexter relieves the memory of his mother being murdered in front of him as a child.

Providence and Killarney's Enigma .
Killarney Provincial Park on Georgian Bay's east coast can be an enigma. A park interpreter warned me years before of the unpredictable weather.
I had only paddled its waters when it was as smooth as a mirror. This August trip in 2008 appeared no different..
...until I paddled into Collins Inlet and dark ominous clouds slipped low under the existing cirrus layer at midday. Air pressure dropped.
The crescendo of artillery fire every 10 seconds could be heard in the distance. The winds picked up. I took to shore on an island. Rapidly I searched for a location to erect a tarp. I wavered back and forth between three different sites. The storm was now approaching quickly. I had less than four minutes to choose one. The sky became so dark I couldn't see without a flashlight.
When the winds hit it ripped the crown straight off a giant white pine tree catching it like a sail 20 m away. My tarp was tied to three cedars and a mature pine.
Rain and hail the size of golf balls struck my sandaled feet. The sky exploded with lightning bolts. My canoe hadn't been turned over and within 5 minutes overflowed with water.
This was no ordinary thunderstorm it was more like a tornado. I watched it strip all the lateral branches off the surrounding trees. The ground under my feet began to heave. The anchors to my tarp were trees now heaving under the wind. The thin soils caused the root systems to fan out. I could feel it moving beneath my feet. After an hour the roots ripped from the ground like giant hinges. Systematically one tree collapsed after another.
I was down to only two guy lines restraining the tarp. Holding it above my head to protect me from the hail the wind continued ripping branches that were flying left and center. The noise horrendous.
I calmed myself by the fact most of the trees around me had blown over. Strangely the white pine pressing against my shoulder stood stoically. The storm lasted three hours.
Eventually there was a slight calm. I assessed the damage. The crown of the tree adjacent to me had been hidden by the tarp. When I peered above the torn material I was shocked. The pine had snapped off 5 m above the ground. Instinctively, I turned around. The rest of the tree lay behind me one meter from the back of my cranium. The trunk was easily 24 inches in diameter.
The alternative candidate sites for my tarp didn't exist, only a tangle of tree trunks, branches and debris. If I had chosen them, I would be dead.
I took advantage of the break in weather loaded up my canoe and paddled into an adjacent bay. Here four large private tugboats were strapped together and anchored. The occupants had obviously caught wind of the approaching storm.
That evening the storm returned with a vengeance. The night was again full of thunder and lightning until dawn.
The next morning I paddled out through the channel. The trees on the adjacent slopes were stripped bare and reminiscent of a landscape exposed to the detonation of a hydrogen bomb. The steep embankments gushed brown water on both sides of the channel. This had been no ordinary storm.
We are aware we are subject to chance circumstances that can forever change our lives. This was a pivotal point in mine.
