It took me 21 years to watch this show.

I was there in 2004, a 15 year old who thought the creepy island show with the maybe dinosaur smoke monster thing was interesting looking, and I was starting to get real invested in Pop Culture. I watched the Pilot and I was absolutely hooked. There was another show released around the same time with similar vibes, called Invasion about some extraterrestrial happenings after a hurricans in South Florida and another called Jericho about the folks of a small rural town dealing with the collapse of society. Even though it wasn't long before Invasion and Jericho were cancelled, I was feasting.

I watched LOST religiously through S3 and caught most of S4 before my young adult priorities were directed elsewhere, but the show stuck in the back of my mind. The show advanced as I advanced in my own life, and as I was able, I picked up the DVD box sets with the intention of watching the show through. Clearly I did not get that far, again only getting through S3 before being the victim of a B&E and getting distracted by other things in my life.

Then the Series Finale came, and of course there was that stupid rumor that everyone was dead the whole time. Seeing as how I was involved from the beginning, I vividly remembered the producers vehemently denying that they were already dead, or in some sort of purgatory with the start of those rumors in S1. I thought it was a lazy cop out by the creators, and kind of went about my life, not giving the show much thought for quite a while.

As the years went by, LOST remained somewhat pervasive in Pop Culture as one of those shows that stayed in the zeitgeist for longer than it's run, at least in my mind. I always had the intention of finally watching it through but my limited appetite for television stunted my progress with any television show I watched.

A couple months ago, my girlfriend and I were trying to decide what our next show would be. I had suggested LOST a few times previously and she shut the idea down without any thought. This time I decided to try a different method. I put on the Pilot episode and told her as it was starting "Watch this one episode, and if you don't want to watch any more, I'll never push it again."

My friends, she was instantly hooked. We burned through the show, watching two or three or four episodes a night until it was done. It was a bit strenuous of a pace for my liking, but she could not get enough. We would get "Lost in the Sauce" as we started to say, for hours at a time until the show was completed.

As I was a loyal fan for the first half of the show's run, I remembered a lot of the major plot points, and it was so much fun to watch her reactions to some of the cliffhangers and shocking moments. And then as we got into S4, it became more of a shared adventure for the two of us, as we felt our way through the end of the show. We finished a couple days ago.

Can I just say... What a wild ride!

I don't know that the show could have ended any better than it did. I was happy with most of the resolutions, and we both spent about 50% of the uncut finale in tears. I don't know how many people had the same experience with this show that I did, but the closure I've received from finally completing this show has been overwhelming. The work done by the actors and writers of this show truly humanize the characters in a way where they feel like more than fictional beings, but people that you truly know (and I don't say that lightly as someone who is exceedingly critical of media). After more than two decades, it feels like my friends were finally able to find their way home.

We'll definitely be watching again, but we've got to give it some space first.

A random thought I had about Robert Rousseau.

When you think about it, Robert Rousseau (Danielle's husband and Alex's biological father) really got the short end of the stick.

First, he has to witness his friends getting brutally murdered by the evil monster after his science expedition crashes on the deserted island. Then, that evil monster kidnaps him and infects him with sickness which causes him to go crazy and almost kill his wife who is forced to kill him in self-defense. And if what Danielle tells Ben in Dr. Linus is true, then he dies in the Flash Sideways world when Alex is only 2 years old, which means that even in afterlife, he was not given a chance to live happily ever after with his wife and daughter, just so that the guy who kidnapped his daughter and later caused her death at the hands of the psychopathic mercenary can be given a happy ending by stealing his role as Alex's father figure and Danielle's new husband. And what happened to Robert after he died from unknown causes in Flash Sideways world? Did he cease to exist? Was he reincarnated? Did he go to another afterlife? We don't know, but no matter what happened to his soul, we know that he didn't move on alongside with Danielle and Alex.

And you know what's the worst thing about it? From what little we know about Robert, he seemed to be a good man before Man in Black corrupted him (if he was evil all along, I don't think Danielle would keep a music box he gave to her for their anniversary long after his death). And yet he suffered the same fate as Anthony Cooper and Martin Keamy- first he gets brutally killed in the real world, then he dies again in Flash Sideways world.

Cooper and Keamy were bad guys, so it makes sense that they would suffer terrible fates both in the real world and in the Flash-Sideways world (Keamy gets violently stabbed to death by Ben in real world, then in FS world he gets shot and killed by Sayid, while Cooper gets brutally strangled to death by Sawyer in the real world and in FS world he ends up being locked up in psychiatric hospital for the rest of his life after Locke accidentally causes him to end up with vegetative state), but what did Robert do to deserve being brainwashed by evil monster, getting shot by his wife and then dying i purgatory when his daughter is too young to remember him? Being an obstacle that could prevent Ben Linus's happy ending?

Just finished this series....WOW, only 1 complaint with the ending

I just watched LOST binged the whole thing in about 3 weeks (I was unfortunately unemployed... don't judge) and wow what a rollercoaster this show was, every episode leaving more questions then answers, to the point I didn't know how they would wrap it all up.

This show is up there with Breaking Bad as the greatest thing to grace television

BUT

Where was Michael and Walter in the end with the rest of the group?

Yes I seen where Michael said he was stuck on the island because of what he did,and from what I've seen that's the explanation everyone has BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I feel like Michael had redeemed himself by the time he died by dying trying to save them

Also to that point, What about Ben? With that same logic should Ben not have been stuck on the island?

Just a small complaint in an otherwise GREAT show

I'm I the only one frustrated with jack's leadership?

Hello I am watching Lost for the first time. I am currently on Season 3 Episode 16. Please no spoilers.

I have been wondering why Sayid John Locke Sawyer or any of the other survivors do not hold Jack more accountable as their leader. I did not mind him being the leader at first because he seemed to care about people but he has shown many times that he has poor judgment and is not good at reading people.

The first example was when Ben who was (pretending to be Henry Gale was captured). Sayid wanted to interrogate him to get the truth but Jack argued with him. It seems Jack forgot that the Others kidnapped Claire while pregnant and nearly killed Charlie (Ethan) yet he still chose to believe Bens story very quickly.

Then when Michael returned and insisted that only a few people come with him to find his son, Jack believed him right away and pressured everyone else to trust his decision even though it was suspicious. He did not warn Kate or Sawyer and because of that they ended up getting captured. Jack was treated better while Kate and Sawyer were tortured.

Later when he comes back with Juliet he instantly believes her as well. Even though Sawyer and Sayid were suspicious and had every reason to be Jack defended Juliet and pushed the others to trust her. That should not have been his decision alone. He should have listened to Sayid and Sawyer kept watch on Juliet or questioned her more carefully. I had to pause the show because I was frustrated and then the next scene shows Juliet planning everything with Ben.

Jack has shown that he is not a good judge of character and his decisions have led to the deaths of Ana Lucia and Libby. I do not understand why the group does not hold him more accountable. It feels like everyone just moves on.

Does Anyone Else Love How Lost Brings Back Dead Characters?”

I’m watching Lost for the first time and I’m still in Season 3, so no spoilers please.

One thing I absolutely love is how characters who have been killed off still come back for flashbacks. Lost is the first series I’ve seen where it happens this frequently. Ian Somerhalder( Boone), who was killed off in Season 1 and is also a very busy actor, still shows up in Seasons 2 and 3 multiple times. Shannon, who I heard wanted to be written off the show and honestly I didn’t care much since she didn’t have much going on after Boone’s death, still appeared in Nikki and Paulo’s backstory. Ethan, the high school teacher. even when their screen time is less than a minute with or without any line, the actors don't mind showing up.

Most shows only bring back major characters after they die, but Lost is so inclusive with its world that even background characters pop up once in a while. I love that.😂❤️ It makes the show feel richer and more connected.

Anyone else feel the same way?🤣🤣

Candidates

If you haven’t watched or in your first watch do not read further. I am sure this has come up in the past, but since then there are probably plenty of people that have finished it.

I have a question for everyone and what they think about my choice of who the candidate(s) should have been, and who you would have chosen if different from the show., or even if you stick with the shows outcome. With Jack being the one that was “chosen,” and then Hugo right after. IMO this was the plan all along.

I will be vagueish here just in case people do continue to read that don’t want to but do anyway. Being Man in Black alluding that the other one manipulated everyone to do what they did to get to the end point.

Anywho! I think Rose and Bernard would have been a better choice. My reasoning, J wanted someone that had no one IE changing his mind about on Kate because of Aaron.

Rose and Bernard became happily content with their situation. Rose was also had a keen situational awareness for people. She’d be able to tell when someone was good or evil. She could use this for the next person(s) to relieve them. Also with Bernard always trying to help everyone, he could become kind of
the next Richard. learning information on the candidates brought to the island and bringing that information to Rose. She in turn use that information to weed out people she doesn’t think could do that job.

Also I think they’d be good because of them being happy now. Instead of someone being lonely for god knows how long, they’d always have each other.

"See you in another life."

Hi everyone.

A couple weeks ago, the wife and I finished LOST. We watched it on and off from the beginning of the year... few episodes here and there.

I remember this show being a big deal back in the day. I watched most of the first season and some of the second season but I was much more of a 24 fan back then. Somehow I ended up losing interest in LOST early in the second season during its original run.

However, there was a quote "See you in another life." that I remembered for years and I knew it came from this show, specifically in season 2 episode 3 (Desmond and Jack are in the jungle). I actually misquoted it many times throughout the years, with me saying instead "See you in the next life." (Did this at a few funerals.) It wasn't until this rewatch that I realized I had misquoted it throughout the years.

Anyway, I think LOST hits differently as an adult. As a teenaged high school kid, the show to me was about people surviving a plane crash and battling some monster in the jungle. But as an adult, it's much different, more about connections and what not. I'm amazed that, after I lost interest, the show wasn't spoiled for me for all those years. I don't remember hearing about the ending of the show and how people reacted to it. For us, when we did the rewatch, it was like watching a whole new show for the first time, even tho the first episode first aired like 20 years ago.

The show was awesome, a great concept, and like many of you, I've searched for something else that could compare to it. But there really isn't anything. There's just something about it...

What if Jin and Sun weren’t candidates but their daughter was?

I don’t know if anyone has ever theorized this before but it is interesting. When Jacob came to their wedding, he touched both of them at the same time and in MIB’s cave, only the name Kwon was written on the wall. Plus the baby was conceived on the island, which isn’t a coincidence. But what do y’all think?

Question about Charlie

so something I’ve always wondered. if the island can heal lockes paralysis, and heal roses cancer. how did Charlie get dope sick?


I would argue paralysis and cancer are much harder to cure than some withdrawals.


at first I thought it was because the island knew Charlie needed to be put through that to grow and become his best self. but I don’t think the island actively thinks like that.

Don't know if this is the right place but there's a book I need help finding that I read in 7th or 8th grade so I know I'm not insane

It starts with a girl and her mom with the mom forsing her daughter on a trip to a farm the only important things I remember is that a cow gives birth and that the cow does later. and I think the daughter knows when it will give birth before any one else
