Does anyone else love Frank (chopper pilot) and wish he had been given more screen time?
I’m halfway through S4, the season where we are introduced to Frank. I so wish he was one of the survivors or something. He is such a great character and the show would have benefited from his presence early on.

Rewatched for First Time in 15 Years
I have been trying to get my wife to watch Lost for the better part of the last decade. However, she resisted.
But the tides turned this year when we welcomed our second child. Faced with a full summer of time away from work, she, out of the blue, told me she was willing to give it another try.
And she loved it.
It was such a thrill to watch through her eyes: to see her fall in love with the characters, to see her caught up in the island’s mysteries, to see her gain an appreciation for the “thud” that punctuates so many episodes. But I must admit, for me, it was just as satisfying to watch it again; I gained an even deeper appreciation for the show.
I just wanted to share some anecdotes, given by someone who first watched the show at age 15, finished it at age 21, and never touched it again until now.
SPOILERS AHEAD
- I remembered SO much more about seasons 1-3 than I did the back half of the series. I think that speaks to the show’s diminishing returns after season 3. A lot of the series’ best moments happen in the first half.
- The first 3 seasons are just magical — season 1, especially. The first season feels like an entirely different show, about which I accurately warned my wife. I was right. The show changes after this — not in a bad way, but it definitely changes. But I was struck by just how well the first few seasons hold up 20+ years later.
- That being said, I think I enjoyed season 6 a lot more this time around. The first half in the temple is slow, but once they leave, it really picks up. It has some real standout episodes, chief among them “Ab Aeterno.”
- My season ranks: 1, 3, 6, 2, 4, 5. I could swap 6 and 2 if talked into it.
- My big issues with season 5 don’t even involve the time travel stuff. I actually thought the whole “island moving through time” stuff was kinda fun, albeit absurd. It’s once that stops where it loses me. Once the Oceanic 6 get back to the island, they don’t…really do much. And the Dharma Initiative, built up for like 5 years as this mysterious, shadowy group, turned out to be mostly a group of unlikeable idiots who didn’t really understand anything about the island. That reveal was pretty lame. For those who complain about not getting enough answers, the DI is my counterpoint. Some mysteries are best left as mysteries.
- The season finales range from very good to truly fantastic. Season 3 is the clear winner, but the finale of season 5 kinda saves the whole season. And the series finale was much better upon a second viewing.
- Speaking of, I really enjoyed the series finale. I was so grateful we got meaningful character interaction and resolution. This show was always best as a character drama rather than a sci-fi…whatever Also, I do not get how anybody misconstrues what the flash sideways is; the show is pretty clear about it. People can complain about unanswered questions, but I thought the church ending was handled much better than I remembered the first time seeing it.
- Vincent laying next to Jack at the end is such a beautiful touch. Man, I knew it was coming and it still crushed me. What a good boy.
- People complain about a lack of answers for the show, but I was struck time and time again by how well the show pays off stuff it introduces. The bodies and rocks in the caves obviously have a payoff. Boone hearing a voice on the radio has a payoff. Yemi’s plane, in general, has multiple payoffs. The old bus in season 3 pops up again many times. The statue took years to show up, but it paid off. The psychic Claire visits gets paid off later when we find out he was, well…paid off by a couple in LA and is a total fraud. These are just off the top of my head. There are countless examples. But I really enjoyed the show following up on stuff like that. Very satisfying.
- I wish a few deaths didn’t happen. I loved Mr. Eko; it’s a shame the actor wanted out. Charlie’s death is memorable but I thought the show really missed him in later seasons. And Sun and Jin…their deaths are very emotionally affecting but…they spend the better part of

two full seasons apart, they get like one episode back together, and then they’re both dead. Ji Yeon has no parents. Needless.

This show is the only one where time travel makes sense
Every other show I know with time travel has loopholes and paradoxes, changing the future changing the past changing the future is all crazy, but this where everything is predetermined, everything makes sense
(Also don’t say anything bout season 6 in reply’s, only just finished 5)

Kate's feeling towards Sawyer
does anybody think Kate would've lost feelings for Sawyer or felt differently for him if she knew he had sex with Ana Lucia? sorry if this has been asked before!

Why did Yemi want Eko to keep pushing the button?
So we can assume that the MIB used Yemi's spirit the show up in Eko's dream, yet why would the MIB want The Swan to continue to operate? If the MIB wanted to destroy The Island, he could have caused it significant harm if he manipulated The Survivors to destroy it. And even though he was testing Eko to see if he would be able to influence him, why would The Swan be so important to him? Maybe it was not actually The MIB in Eko's dream but perhaps The Island itself, like it does in other people's dreams? Or maybe was it all apart of the MIB's grand plan get off The Island?

Why is this person in the flash sideways and not M?
I’m not saying Michael deserves to be there after what he did, but Ben Linus literally murdered John Locke. What am I missing? Genuine question.

If youre a binge watcher like me, let me know some pinpoint spots in episodes (without full spoilers to new context i may have missed) so i can add them to my LOST bucket list!

just finished for the first time and what a beautiful show
the whole show just encapsulates themes that I’ve never seen in other shows, it really brings out so much emotion about redemption, love and faith.
I loved John Locke and how he always believed even though life has been so hard for him, but he never stopped believing that he was destined for greatness whether it was the island or the walkabout, what a fucking fantastic character and I’m sad he didn’t live long enough to see how he converted Jack to a man of faith aswell and how right he truly was about everything.
the power of interconnecting with all the people on the island is beautiful and I love how they all seek redemption for their flawed lives through one another and the time they spent together which ultimately was the most important part of their life, such good things to take into real life and how it’s important about who you surround yourself with and how you should let go of past mistakes and thrive for the present and future. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL
WE HAVE TO GO BACK KATE!!! RAHHHHHHHH

finished lost for the first time
I really liked this show more than any other ones ive watched before , i cant think of a single episode that wasn't great at least if not perfect , the only i wished from the show was if It had more and i think they could've made the new man in charge a whole new season instead of a 10 minute short but it was perfect for what it is

why didnt the island prevent everyone from finding the island?
If the island prevented everyone from finding it (mother, man in black, Jacob , dharma, others , lostees, etc.) would that not have prevented the end of the world in 1977 and the smoke monster trying to bring evil into the rest of the world? Would this not be significantly easier on the part of the island as it wouldnt have to do anything?

"I Think that Locke Guy Has Mind Control Powers."
I'm rewatching with my parents - it's their first time. And listening to some of the ideas and conspiracies they've come up with are hilarious. Some of my favorites:
- My poor dad keeps falling asleep and when he wakes up, he has no idea what is happening. He will randomly say "How'd they get off the island!?" when he wakes up during a flashback. 😂
- My mother made the Locke comment in the noscript in early season 2.
- They were both convinced that Jack was going to off Sawyer when he said (in his delirious fever) that he loved Kate. They are both now very invested in the love triangle.
- My mom doesn't like Charlie and thinks it's hilarious that he keeps getting physically hurt.
- My mom cried when Rose & Bernard were reunited.
- My dad was very concerned when Claire, Kate, and Rousseau opened the second hatch. He thought they were going to drown?
- My mom is fairly convinced that something bad is going to happen to Sun, Jim, and/or Aaron. Oh Mom, you have no idea. :(
---------
It has been so hard for me to keep a straight face and not give them accidental spoilers when they ask questions. Watching the journey through their eyes has been wonderful. We are halfway through season 2 now.

The Lyrebird
So I just went on YouTube to listen to the sounds of smokey and it occured to me that he produces a plethora of horrible scary sounds. This probably won't be news to anybody but seeing as he can invade the mind of dead people and reanimate them. Surely when he is in smoke form he is being somewhat of a Lyrebird by mimicking loads of scary noises he's heard on the island over the past hundred or so years to intimidate people.
I don't really have a point really, just trying to make sense of why smoke form bloke makes so many different noises instead of just roaring like a bear.
