Why do people hate the ending?

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I just finished the show for the first time. Going into it, I knew that the ending had a reputation of being disappointing so I prepared myself.

I did feel that the later seasons of the show became too convoluted and it ran for way too long. The show could have wrapped up much earlier but what surprised me is that I really liked the ending. The last image of all the characters we have seen over six seasons reuniting in the afterlife in that church was such a triumphant and heartwarming note to go out on after all the trauma and hardships these characters have gone through. If anything, the ending of the show kind of redeems the final few seasons of the show for me. And all the lingering questions were mostly answered in a satisfying manner.

So I ask, why do people have such a bone to pick with this ending and why did people have such a negative reaction to it?

I just watched the “Getting Lost” documentary on Tubi.

To be honest, as a big fan of the show, I was hoping they were going to go more into the behind the scenes from the creatives and actors. Not what I was expecting when it was more focused on fans and podcasters. Still a decent watch. Hoping we get another Lost documentary at some point that is more focused on the behind the scenes.

About to watch finale

As the noscript says, I'm about to watch the finale for the first time. If it doesn't end in a massive dance party with every character throughout the show while "You All Everybody" plays, I will be severely disappointed.
