Finished watching LOST last night and I feel empty
I first heard about LOST a few years ago from a random instagram post and it stayed in my watchlist for the longest time. I finally started it about 2-3 months back. I muted this sub to avoid spoilers, found the first-time watchers discussion threads and every time I finished an episode, I’d go read that episode’s thread. That honestly became part of the experience for me.
The pilot was AMAZING!! I don’t think I’d ever seen anything like that before. From there, I was completely hooked. The whole show felt like a masterpiece to me, even though I know a lot of people say they didn’t like the ending. Personally, I loved it!
I finished THE END last night and I was a complete sobbing mess. Jack in his final moments, lying in the bamboo forest with Vincent by his side… that scene had me ugly crying.
LOST was a part of my daily routine. Now that it’s over, I just feel this weird emptiness, like there’s a void inside of me. Easily one of the best shows of all time.

Man in Black deserved a better backstory
I know “Across the sea” gets a lot of criticism. I actually enjoyed the episode quite a bit. The only thing that really bothers me is that the final boss of the show, the man in black, who was built up as being the most evil thing in the world who was going to destroy the planet if he got free, was just revealed to be a guy who was being held hostage by Jacob.
Not once did he threaten to destroy the world. He just wanted to leave. I cannot understand why Carlton and Damon couldn’t come up with a better backstory especially when they had 6 seasons and these guys are absolute geniuses at backstories. I’m basing this on how good the characters are in lost.

Just finished first time watch— question
As the noscript says, I just finished watching the show and had to binge the last two seasons because they are removing Lost from Netflix sadly. I absolutely LOVED this show, like seriously just obsessed and gutted I don’t have more time for a rewatch, but I do have a few questions.
The main one I was hoping to figure out (they may have explained and I missed it) but where do the numbers come from? Why is it those numbers in that order, what does it mean?
I’m sure I’ll think of more questions later, but for now, I’ll be picking back up on season 1 episode 1 while I still can…
EDIT: I have another question, was Jacob’s mom’s power ever explained or alluded to anything? And does anyone have theories on why they didn’t name the Man in Black or also if there story was a reference to something biblical? I know MIB was compared to the Devil but idk
2ND EDIT: Also, what happened to Rousseau’s people? What did they get sick with and why did she have to kill them? Also i can’t remember, did they ever show her and Ben together or her at the Dharma initiative? Was their sickness the same as Sayid’s and Claire’s?

Characters like Sawyer in other shows?
I can't tell you how much I loved Sawyer and his transformation; is there other characters like Sawyer who are annoying at first then get transformed into one of the best characters of the show?

Website detailing characters fates?
I’m trying to find an old website that specifically had a page that showcased portraits of all the characters, and as they died or were missing they were greyed / crossed out etc.
I haven’t even watched this show but I vividly remember family members looking up that website on a laptop around 2008 / 2009.
Any help would be appreciated!

Lost - Life and Death theme on the keyboard
I did this quite a few years ago and figured if anyone will appreciate it it’s the people here. I’m no professional but I had a lot of fun doing this. 🎹🎶

Why did sawyer’s character change feel so rapid?
I’m currently towards the end of season 4 and, maybe I just haven’t noticed it till now, but sawyers change in character felt so quick. Like he went from being this edgy prick to being all protective of Claire and her baby? I see why he’s sort of close with Hurley as they slowly get along more and more in the seasons before, but the Claire thing confuses me. Not like this isn’t a positive development but it feels like it wasn’t even driven by anything. I feel like he was t even remotely like this in season 1, 2, and even 3. But maybe I’m missing something I don’t really know I’m not a great media analyser.

whose backstory made you most sympathetic?
everyone’s backstories showed some type of trauma or justification for their behavior/judgements on the island. which character made you feel the most sympathetic for them? or in other words, whose backstory made you change your view on their character the most?
i guess i could also the opposite: were there any character backstories that didn’t change your view on their character at all?
