Just started another rewatch after years (some Spoilers)

I watched in real time during the 2000's, rewatched within a few months of the original finale, and did another rewatch several years later. It's probably been close to or maybe slightly over a decade since I watched it.

The thing that strikes me (didn't really occur to me on previous rewatches) is how many of the small details of season 1 don't really matter when the viewer has already seen it.

Like I remember back to watching it as it originally aired, and really suspecting that John Locke was a bad guy. Even the scene where he smiles with the orange slice in his mouth seemed ominous. And that Sawyer was probably the fugitive. Or even that Walt made the polar bears appear cause it was on his mind from the comic book.

The amount of red herrings is really admirable, but once you know how it's going to develop, the tension that you feel the first time around can never really be replicated.

Still enjoying it though, and seeing things I totally forgot about. This really was one of the greatest, most ambitious shows ever made.

Wow

First time watching this show and im on season 4 episode 5 and just witnessed what might be one of the greatest episodes in TV history imo, everything about The Constant was done in an incredible way, i love the time shenanigans they are doing with Desmond and the emotions were top notch. Can't wait to finish watching the whole show.

Edit: Just found out the guy who directed this ep, also directed GoT's Hold the door episode which also happens to be one of my favs.

I just finished Lost and 4x05 The Constant is possibly the best episode.

Absolute banger

Finished this show earlier this year. In my opinion it was a 8/10. Had potential for a 10/10 but I felt sometimes a little confused or that some episodes were dragged out too long for a specific plot. But nevertheless in my top 4 shows of all time. Thinking about giving it another watch in the new year! Hopefully to fill some gaps on things I maybe didn’t understand, on that note if anyone has YouTube recs that explain some confusing parts I’m all for it lol.

My re-watch binge cheat sheet

I am a fan from the original run and a friend of mine has been bugging me for over a year to watch this with them. Last week we began the ritual.

The usual ceremony was performed when the complete collection box set was reopened. Shockingly, the Pen light still works. (I'm still gunna replace those 15 year old batteries thou.)

Anyways, Jokes aside. Years ago (around 2014) I made a cheat sheet showing the best places to take breaks, and some episode rearrangements that fix the pacing problems that arise in a binge watch. This was stuffed inside the box and I completely forgot about it.

As a Christmas present to you all, I hastily copied my decade old notes into a google doc to share. There's a ton of shorthand. This is not definitive and is meant for someone who has seen the series and wants some spice in a re-watch. But I also made sure there no real spoilers, So this can be used for a first-time watch if you are the crazy type.

Enjoy.

Weird fact, The entire series breaks down neatly into 7 episode blocks. I have dubbed this the "Rule of 7" and frequently reference this on the sheet.

Spoiler: bit confused on the flash sideways in season 5/6

We see our losties going about their daily lives as teachers, cops, etc, and even running into each other and miles and sawyer being parters in law enforcement. I’m a bit confused with this one. This is all after jug dead exploded.

So it almost feels like this is the life they would have led had they never visited the island. I’m thinking this isn’t real because the plane “did” go down and everything on the island, and off, pre incident, happened. So what is this place? Are they in a holding pattern until they are all reunited? Should I just wait for this to be explained?
