If you had to build a survival team from Lost, which 3 characters would you choose?
You’re stranded on an island indefinitely (not specifically the island but any). You can only pick three characters from the cast of Lost to form your survival team.
Who do you choose, and why?
Think long-term survival: food, shelter, medicine, leadership, problem-solving, and not killing each other.
Bonus:
Who would you absolutely not pick, even if they had useful skills?
Are you optimising for survival, sanity, or loyalty?
Curious to see people’s logic, not just favourites.
Below is list to remind you of the possible picks:
Jack Shephard,
Kate Austen,
James “Sawyer” Ford,
John Locke,
Hugo “Hurley” Reyes,
Sayid Jarrah,
Sun-Hwa Kwon,
Jin-Soo Kwon,
Charlie Pace,
Claire Littleton,
Michael Dawson,
Walt Lloyd,
Shannon Rutherford,
Boone Carlyle,
Rose Nadler,
Bernard Nadler,
Ana Lucia Cortez,
Mr. Eko,
Libby Smith,
Cindy Chandler,
Benjamin Linus,
Juliet Burke,
Richard Alpert,
Ethan Rom,
Tom Friendly,
Alex Rousseau,
Daniel Faraday,
Charlotte Lewis,
Miles Straume,
Frank Lapidus,

Looking for a Lost Photoshoot
I think it was during the first season the cast did a photoshoot for a magazine. Maybe People or Entertainment Weekly? They were having a viewing party - I’m pretty sure at Evangeline’s house but they were watching outside. There were a lot of oranges and warm colors in the shoot like maybe it was shot at sunset? I did some googling and couldn’t find it. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about or know where to see those pics?

Yule log anybody?
I just found myself singing 'Yule log, anybody?' to the tune of 'You all, everybody' as I was serving myself a slice chocolate log. Everytime I see a Yule log now I'm going to think of this song, it just fits too well.
Has anyone else ever remixed the lyrics of 'You all, everybody' for their own amusement? I'd love to hear them.

Something i appreciate about Lost more and more
So , i just watched the latest volume of stranger things which is a show i watched since its initial release. And although i like the show, a huge reason why i think Lost has become my favorite show of all time after watching it all over the past 2 years is because of the fact that Lost had real stakes.
Lost kept you on edge at all times because the show had real stakes and consequences. and even beyond that, in some cases some characters were just flat out unlucky. not everyone got to have a happy ending and that's just how life is. it made the show feel more immersive despite its mystical/super natural elements. Sometimes characters escaped bad situations and sometimes they didnt. and thats part of why i Love lost so much.
After watching stranger things (spoiler if you havent watched vol 2) i am beyond disappointed that the show is afraid to actually kill any side/main characters regardless of the situation there in. It just makes me lose immersion on the show and its a factor on what separates how much i enjoyed a show like Lost, vs how much i enjoy a show like ST.
and its not about wanting characters to die just because, but its to feel like the forces they are going against , etc, are actual threats.

Just binge watched lost before they took it off netflix
This was my first time watching the show. Wish I had watched it back when it originally aired. I had forgotten there were well written shows on network television before streaming services. Really enjoyed it and that they created thier own mythology with some room for the viewer to interpret things. I also liked that some of the characters I liked in the beginning I wound up not liking by the end and vice versa. Enjoyed some of the later cast members too, I thought Myles was hilarious. I am still processing it all, including the ending. I am going to miss watching it.

What if Charlie had lived?
Something about Charlie time traveling just doesn’t make sense to me. I feel like his death, as tragic as it was, spared him from all the crazy scify stuff that happened from season 5 onward.

Another midnight thought about the island
Probably not original but I think the island does not move geographically but temporally. And the movement is caused by a buildup of the electromagnetic energy. Ordinarily every few hundred years at least. The last natural jump was sometime after the black rock crash. Someone….it would have to be either Jacob or Richard gives the journal to the dharma initiative who had suspected the island but could never find it. The electromagnetic field bends the space time around the island so its actual bearings are impossible to see without advanced mathematics in conjunction with the journal. Thus dharma creates lamppost station to locate the island and the looking glass to send out a ping to more easily track it. However the island will move again. Once after the pulse that brings down the oceanic plane and then once again when Ben spins the wheel. The means the island is not trackable with the lamppost after the oceanic flight. It’s moving in time. Only one guy in the 70s knows this will happen and his name is faraday so he modifies the lamp post with the pendulum which lets dharma and later Eloise track the island after a move.

Don’t tell me what I can’t do! Actually, maybe…
Okay, so I’m trying to do the impossible. I’m currently on the last episode of season 3 and I’m attempting to finish the whole series before Netflix takes it away after 12/31.
I started watching Lost for the first time last year and became OBSESSED. I almost finished the series (I think I had 4 episodes left?) but I do this weird thing and try to save the ending of shows I love. But now, Netflix is forcing my hand.
Unfortunately, I just did the math and realized how many hours I’ll have to watch a day and, despite having some time off from work next week, I’m worried I’m not going to make it in time.
Please give me some suggestions of potentially skip-able episodes if you can. I did see all of seasons 1-5 before but my brain is pretty good at forgetting (I’ll blame the weed).
Edit- even though I’ve watched seasons 1-5 before, you all have helped me determined that, even in a rewatch, I cannot skip any episodes! Thank you alll for your advice 🫡 I will be making it thru season five on Netflix and purchasing season 6 now. Thanks again!

Which character does your life relate to?
I first watched lost in 2006 when i was a kid and didn't think much of it. Watched it again in 2017 when i was 18 and i liked it but again nothing clicked. Now watching it as a 26 year old is when i can relate to what most people were going through in their previous lives. Personally my life story resonates to charlie and john locke. How about you?

Remaining questions
I first watched Lost after season 1 was released to dvd (I was 20), just completed my second rewatch since I was just a kid. It was beautiful; that last episode had me sobbing so much. Some things had changed wildly for me since originally watching the show 20ish years ago (better understanding the ending and finding it perfect, shipping Juliette/James, finding Sun and Jin to be a terrible relationship all the way through to the end, loving Ben's character arc). I had remembered almost everything though - the show impacted me then deeply, it impacts me now. Glad to be here with you Losties, I was dying to finish to come to /r.
I am curious about your take on a few things.
1. How do you think Ben healed/made good on his deal for Juliette's sister? Was she never ill the second time?
2. I am assuming the electromagnetism has some effect on babies in utero given that Ethan was born fine, pre-incident. Do you think it is extended exposure to the electromagnetic force or does it happen at conception, or something else? I know Jacob didn't want to intervene, but do you think he could have? Do you think he felt conflicted about the death of all those mothers?
3. The smoke monster/Man in Black kills some but not all. Why do you think that is? Killing some of the Rousseau shipwrecked people is probably the best example of a sparing that I find confusing. He seems to not kill those who can be manipulated, or may have purpose (although the purpose does not seem to benefit him always), but it seems he didn't use Rousseau or any of the remainder of those people.
4. Why do you think Ethan never called out the lie of Ben being born on the island? Ben obviously didn't kill all of the Dharma folk, do you think he deliberately saved Ethan? Or was he elsewhere like Mikhail? Can you imagine being in one of the Dharma stations, learning everyone is dead, and suddenly having to report to one of the younger workmen?
5. Do you think Richard knew that Ben had never seen Jacob?
6. Do you think that old lady at Juliette's house at book club was a leftover Dharmie? Wild if she met Juliette twice right ‐ 70s and now?
7. Whenever we see anyone dead in the jungle (Ben's mom, Mr. Eko's brother, Christian), was it always the Man in Black? I'd guess yes, but Jacob and Man in Black's mother showed up to them before there was a smoke monster, so there was some property of the island that allowed that to happen.
