Just started rewatching Lost after 15 years. Season 4 Episode 5 - The Constant, is such a beauty. Peak writing, peak acting and peak direction. The transition between the timelines and his bewilderment every time he travels back, it's a bliss to watch

Complete U-Turn on “The End” (Spoiler free)

Have just completed my first rewatch of the entire series. I last watched it when it first aired, I was in my early 20s, I watched it week by week, and I was properly obsessed. It was my favourite show, I adored it.. until the final episode, which I loathed, it left me feeling betrayed. I disliked it so much that I didn’t think I’d ever watch the show again and it became my go-to “Worst. Ending. Ever”.

Anyway, I found myself watching the pilot again a few weeks ago in an effort to avoid Christmas TV, and made it to The End yesterday, and OMFG it was absolutely amazing. Poetic, beautifully performed by the cast, the score was so wonderful, the symmetry. I lost my shit about 20 minutes in and I was blubbing for almost the whole episode.

Not too proud to admit that I utterly misunderstand the finale first time round, I came to the same popular misconception as many others did… in hindsight I’m not sure how I got it so wrong. What I would say, is that watching it boxset style over a few weeks absolutely helped me to appreciate the overall picture more than watching it over the course of 6 years.

No shade to those that fully understood the ending and still didn’t like it, I can understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I thought it was fucking brilliant.

4 8 15 16 23 42 degrees

Dunno if this is allowed but thought folks here would have fun with it.

A friend and I do this silly annoying thing while watching movies. It’s similar to the whole “Six Degrees to Kevin Bacon” game, but we call it “4 8 15 16 23 42 Degrees to LOST” where we see an actor in a movie and recognize them from LOST. It doesn’t stop there though, once we know of an obscure cast connection, a whole new section of our web opens up and we can challenge each other to connect to LOST (via actor or director) the farthest film down that new rabbit hole we can can come up with. If love to share this game with yall here on the sub!

I’ll start with a few films below for yall to comment your solutions and yall can comment your own suggestions for me and others to solve. First an example, then some challenges:

Star Trek (2009)

stars Chris Pine who was in

Unstoppable (2010)

stars Ethan Suplee who was in

Without a Paddle (2004)

stars Matthew Lillard who was in

Scream (1996)

stars Neve Campbell who was in

Party of Five (1994-2000)

stars Matthew Fox

who plays Jack in LOST

A better track though might be:

Star Trek (2009)

stars Karl Urban who was in

The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers (2002)

stars Dominic Monaghan

who plays Charlie in LOST

Or maybe

Star Trek (2009)

directed by JJ Abrams

who directed the pilot (and did other junk idk) of LOST

Now let’s find:

Boogie Nights (1997)

Dirty Work (1998)

Dick (1999)

Reindeer Games (2000)

Donnie Darko (2001)

Men in Black II (2002)

In the Cut (2003)

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Æon Flux (2005)

The Ex (2006)

Anyone else ever noticed on S2:E8 this little bit?

So I was just rewatching it on disney+ and for the first time I just realized when Ana is kneeling down next to Shannon, you can see Shannon(Maggie Grace) trying hard not to breathe but her chest is still moving little bits... that's noticeable. 🤔 I was like I wonder if anyone else noticed it.😅

Richard had one job and he sucked at it

Spoilers

>!He was supposed to lead the people on the island towards goodness. You'd think after hundreds of years, he'd get better at it but he was useless. The Others were mostly a force of fear and evil and murder and hatred, and he didn't have the guts to step in and lead them properly when they repeatedly fell under the sway of bad leadership.!<

Here's a clip of their conversation with the instructions Jacob gives to Richard for you guys to judge for yourself what you think his job is:

It starts at about the 1:50 mark

Best season openers?

Hey guys.

I was wondering what's everyone's favourite season opener? Mine has to be at the start of season 2 with Desmond down in the hatch.

With the music and then the sharp cut when you realise we're down in the hatch for the first time. I remember watching it when it was first released and i was so excited to see what mysteries were down there.

I'd love to know your thoughts

You all everybody

Only after joining this subreddit did I learn that the song says “You all everybody” not “ You are everybody” lololol

I thought the line was written as some poetic metaphor about the writer seeing their loved one in everyone or that they mean everything to them, something along those lines

Total Drama Island

it just occurred to me that Total Drama Island is one of the many media franchises that took direct inspiration from the setup of Lost, some of the characters on TDI are direct inspo from Lost btw 😭😭

Watched for first time

Was surprised they never revisited the couple that was unknowingly buried alive (bit by spiders) with $8M in diamonds. It was brought up again in last season, but that was it. I was waiting for that to resurface, forever. Side note…Loved ending.

Ben's motives in S5's 'The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham'

After Ben talks down Locke from hanging himself, Locke gives him two pieces of information, though Ben's reaction is hard for me to follow.

Jin is still alive. Ben seems genuinely shocked ("Jin is alive?!"), and looks away for a few moments.
Q1. He clearly knew a bunch of survivors were still alive since Widmore never got to the island and Locke was still alive, so why is he so shocked at Jin?
Q2. More importantly, what's he realizing/plotting once he learns this?

Eloise Hawking is the one to help them get back. Once Ben knows this he kills Locke obviously.
Q3. does he do this since he's now found a way back to the island AND at the same time could conveniently eliminate his competition as leader?
Q4. Are we meant to believe he didn't already know Eloise was able to help? Perhaps he only knew OF her if she left the island when Ben was a child, in 1977 so she could give birth to Daniel elsewhere. But even so, he must know The Lamp Post can find the island, since he usurped Dharma and learned about them. We don't see him at that station with Eloise until AFTER Locke is dead (even though it happens a few episodes earlier).

Hope that makes sense. I love talking about this show. :)
