Watched Lost for the first time: Thoughts
Having watched a majority of the big TV shows (bar Sopranos, The Wire, Mr Robot), Lost was one of the ones I still hadn’t watched, so over my time off at Christmas and into January I gave it a whirl, and for the most part was absolutely fantastic…
Theme: Going into it I genuinely didn’t know it was sci-fi, I thought it was literally just a survival show (like walking dead in a sense, yes zombies aren’t realistic but 95% of what happens is). And it was only when I first saw the smoke monster that I was sort of taken back a bit thinking, “this isn’t at all what I was really expecting”, then went onto google and IMDb and there it was; “Sci-Fi”. And having then seen that, I wasn’t actually put off by the smoke monster then aha. And actually made me way more intrigued than before. But it’s such a blend of comedy, action, sci-fi, adventure, etc etc that it really doesn’t feel primarily like a sci-fi show. It blends all of those genres so well together. 9/10
Characters: I think this is genuinely one of the only shows that have so many “main” characters, that also feel so so different to each other, and actually are for the most part all fantastic. The backstories of them added so much depth and emotion to them. John Locke being my favourite one, who I think is in my top 5 TV Show characters of all time now. What it does so well is also how they never got boring. For 120 episodes, to have the characters stay as interesting as day 1 is some feat, especially with the large quantity of them. I think the only season I really couldn’t care less for some of the characters was season 6 with some of Widmores people, felt they added nothing. Then Naomi (I think it was, the British girl who John killed), was the only other one I didn’t care for. But the rest of that crew were fantastic for only being added in later. Lapedus = GOAT. I think the only other show that does characters so well from such a big cast would be The Walking Dead, but in that, characters got killed off every season, Lost didn’t really do that (bar Charlie) and managed to keep them feeling fresh. Kate I think out of the original lot was the only one I felt was a tad flat. Backstory was sort of interesting, but kept going between Sawyer and Jack and you didn’t know who she really preferred etc. not a bad character, just a bit less interesting. 10/10
Plot: Like I mentioned in the theme, I thought the plot going into this was pure adventure and survival, but the learning of the Sci-Fi, I was very interested. However I will say, the plot from season 1-3 was immaculate. The (and I hate this word) ‘vibes’ were just perfect. Had enough mystery to keep me interested, with a nice touch of every theme a TV Show needs. And again comparing to walking dead, it’s similar with how the early seasons were TV perfection, but as it went on, it sort of lost its charm. But not has bad as TWD, no chance. It was still interesting, but pushed the mystery side over the rest of the themes way more to the point where it lost its charm. As I said definitely kept me curious, but didn’t look forward to the next episode as much as the earlier seasons. 7/10 (10/10 S1-3, 5/10 S4-6)
Music: Pretty simple, very beautiful, Michael G very talented in this area, done some of the most iconic pieces in media.
Overall: For me it’s just such an interesting show that despite its flaws towards the end (not really flaws just didn’t hook me as much), it’s one of the best things I’ve watched. But you can’t really criticise the last part of the show when every other massive TV show from this period in life all had similar cases. Prison Break, Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones. All peaked in the early seasons. With a great large cast of characters. But, out of the lot, only Lost managed to keep the characters GREAT. And that’s what makes the show so special imo, is the characters. I think if the show had any other characters that weren’t these, it’d be a 6/10 at most.
This is my first time watching the show, so bound to appreciate different things more and understand

everything a bit more when I rewatch with the Mrs. But from an initial first impressions. Loved it, and definitely was worth the time.

Lost Hawaii Tours
My wife and I will be visiting Hawaii in March. We are spending most of our time in Maui, but we are thinking of trying to squeeze a day trip to Oahu to see some Lost and Jurassic Park movie locations. I only seem to have found 1 tour that offers the North Shore to see the survivors' beach and the valley where Hurley's golf course and van scenes are which is also the Jurassic stampede location. Does anyone have any experiences on a tour for something similar or have been on this exact tour?

Does anyone have a source for this information?
On Evangeline Lilly's page on Lostpedia, one of the trivia facts about her is this:
"Evangeline has stated multiple times between Twitter and Livestream videos that Kate, her character in Lost, was pregnant with Jack Shephard's baby (Actor-Matthew Fox) when the plane left the island in the finale. Evangeline confirmed this with the Lost writing staff when discussing Season 5 Episode 6 "316"prior to shooting, asking about the purpose of Kate's character sleeping with Jack, Kate's former fiancé, the night before returning to the island."
I have seen the Instagram live stream where she says that she believes that Kate was pregnant with Jack's baby at the end of the show, but I have scoured the internet and cannot find a source for the second half of it. Does anyone know where she said that she confirmed with the writers that Kate was pregnant?

Two for the road
I feel that (Two for the Road) is LOST'S (Red Wedding) 2 of the most shocking endings to an episode of tv ever,I'm still effected by them when I rewatch.

Help with reference - Feb 14th at 8:30pm??
Okay this ridiculous, but my boyfriend and I rewatched Lost two years ago. I have an event in my calendar on 2/14/26 at 8:30pm that says "call boyfriend. It's a lost TV show reference you gotta. He swears he'll remember and hold you to it". I have no idea what this is referencing!!!
I'm pretty positive my boyfriend also doesn't remember what this is and I want to figure it out. Is this a real Lost reference? Tried searching and couldn't come up with anything.

Why didn’t the smoke monster kill a certain USMC veteran and his men?
I was really surprised to see Martin Keamy and his men return to the freighter. Why would the smoke monster toss them around and just let them leave? Considering the same smoke monster killed numerous 815ers with no provocation at all.

First re-watch in 20 years
Just finished season 3 and I'm as traumatized now as I was then about Charlie. Jeez they set that up beautifully to break your fucking heart. He was a great character and the actor was perfect. Seeing him flirt with "the dark side" and then finally commit to being a good guy. He kept telling Claire he'd keep her safe when he couldn't, despite his best intentions, and his last act was to finally make good on that promise. He was totally fulfilled at that moment. After she kissed him, he knew his life could never get any better than that moment and he could let go.

How on earth did Sawyer rise to top ranks in Dharma Initiative!?
It went from, "Sorry, you have to leave, you're really not Dharma Initiative material" to (fast forward 3 years) Sawyer is a top ranking leader there! Is this ever explained?

I love Shannon’s character.
I don’t know about you, but I personally loved Shannon’s character. I know a lot of people hate her, but I still don’t really understand why, because she actually had a really nice character development over the seasons. It’s my first time watching the show, and I’ve just reached her death, and honestly, I really loved her character.
At the beginning, she was kind of the chill girl who thought everything would go back to normal — tanning in the sun, not really caring about others, etc. But little by little, she faced reality and started to actually be useful within the group. After her brother’s death, you can really see that she wants to be useful, that she’s deeply affected, and that she genuinely tries to become a better person. You can see her gaining confidence in herself, and I really loved that.
Her relationship with Sayid was so sweet. So I honestly don’t understand why this character is so hated. I think people often hate her without really putting themselves in her shoes, especially when you consider everything she was going through, on top of her difficult life before the crash with a stepmother who treated her terribly.
Plus the fact that she died just one week after Boone makes her death even sadder…
What do you think? Do you agree?

Would anyone/multiple anyones want to start a little group where we watch the series together?
One episode a day? We could even do an episode a week like the original airing? Put us in a little group chat or discord and discuss the episodes as we watch them type shit? Maybe each of us could try to find 1 person in their life who hasnt seen the show and introduce them to it.
I'm snowed in.. about a foot of snow here in East Tennessee and I'm just looking for a way to stay social.

explain time in s5
i watched lost YEARS ago and just now rewatching as a true adult. i like s5 but just slightly confused on the time. can someone explain
\- Oceanic 6 leave island, island moves through time yada yada, the ones left behind stuck in 1970s and join Dharma
\- O6 come back for their individual reasons and are back on island in 1970s
\- Kate, Jack, Hurley, Sayid encounter remaining islanders at Dharma, in 1970s
\- Sun is somehow on another part of the island? with Ben and Lepitus, and ~~John.~~
\- Sun is looking for Jin, has picture of the group in Dharma in 1970s, they witness Richard talking to John with the compass, witness John disappearing
\- so is the island simultaneously in 1970s for the people left behind, AND present day for those arriving at it? and how tf did Sun get separated from the rest on the plane?
