先大概介绍一下 Gnome，这是一个 Linux 桌面环境（和一系列应用程序）。时至今日 Gnome 仍然是最流行的 Linux 桌面环境之一，但在近十年中其一些设计和特性导致了非常多的争议和批评。
朋友转发了个直球喷 Gnome 哲学跑偏导致体验灾难的消息，我才头一回真正去搜索了 Gnome Philosophy，然后又看到了两篇直球输出的文章。
第一篇提到 Gnome 的哲学是只保留所用用户都必需的功能而去掉剩下 80% 的可能会「使用户困惑的」，即便可能每个用户必需的 20% 特性都不相同；
第二篇更加强调最新的 Gnome 40 版本发布前后来自 Gnome 团队对某些设计决定的解释与其过往行为的冲突，如标记出来的「与其做插件你们应该去做成自己的应用或者直接给 Gnome 贡献」和 Gnome 团队这十多年来不断的从 Gnome 移除特性使插件变得不可或缺这一既定事实之间的冲突。
第二篇文章的最后提到了一篇 2002 年的文章，里面提出「设置每个选项都其代价，为了提供选项所付出的代价会随着选项数量的增加而指数级增长。」的观点，因此应用程序应该更加关注潜在的问题而非增加不必要的选项。这里作者认为设置项的存在并不只是为了解决问题，把所有用户混为一谈并不科学。
我还算仔细地看了看这篇文章，它并非毫无道理，关于这篇放评论了。
