From what I've checked, I found that the Beta update for Pixel devices is a newer Build version (BP31), while the Android Emulator's System Image is still the Initial Release version (BP22). This likely means the emulator version doesn't yet have live updates available for testing.

We'll probably have to wait for the Android team to release an update for the Android Emulator's System Image (even though a month has passed since this post, and there still haven't been any updates).
