Am I crazy or is Safari truly a very slow browser on Mac?
I've tried many browsers over the years, and you always hear people say some are slow, some are fast, but I could never really tell the difference. Kinda like iPhone cameras. They all seem good. But a couple of times a year I will try to force myself to start using Safari since it would be nice to have the seamless integration, especially since I'm basically forced to use it on my iPad since it's the only browser I can use extensions, see the bookmarks bar, and block ads, but I'm always shocked by how slow it is. Like, it's actually very sluggish. Chrome just feels wayyy faster.
It seems fine on an iPhone or iPad, but on my M3 MacBook Air and my old m2 MacBook Air, it's horrible.
Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just imagining it?

Try Comet Browser - Get 1 Free Month of Perplexity Pro!
Hi everyone,
I've been testing Comet Browser, the new browser from Perplexity, and it's been a pleasant surprise. The way it integrates AI into everyday browsing is really interesting.
What impressed me most is how the built-in AI search and assistant features help you quickly find information and manage your daily activities. The interface is clean and modern, and I think it's well optimized for Mac.

BetterMouse Config Sharing?
Hello, I'm interested in seeing how other users have their BetterMouse configured, specifically the Smooth Scrolling. I've had a difficult time finding a community. Would love to see your configurations. I'm using the M720 Logitech, and toying around with the Hi-Res support. Currently have Acceleration at 5 and Duration at 25, but can't seem to replicate the experience I was getting with MouseGlide. The Magic Mouse is a no-go for me.

Why doesn't macOS make it easier to record video with sound?
I'm using this app https://existential.audio/blackhole/
But it feels extremely complicated for the average user to set up. It also means I have to manually switch the sound output in the menu bar every time I wanna just listen to music when the laptop is connected my monitor, using the macbook air speakers on their own, or recording audio while connected to the monitor. Is there a reason that Apple is not making this so much easier, natively, when recording your screen with Cmd+Shift+5?

Quilt - Rebuilt for macOS Tahoe! New design, new features.
https://reddit.com/link/1o8jkiw/video/oofbycoepjvf1/player
Hey everybody,
To go along with the launch of macOS Tahoe, we rebuilt Quilt from the inside out. We refactored the entire Swift codebase for pure speed.
This new version is faster, more efficient, and fully optimized for Tahoe. Captures are quicker, and the app is more stable than ever.
For those new to the app, its real power is in automation. You can set Quilt to capture a textbook page, automatically trigger a right-arrow key press to turn the page for you, wait a moment, and then capture the next one. It’s perfect for digitizing entire ebooks, lecture slides, or online course materials hands-free. Everything is saved into a clean, searchable PDF, and the app is completely offline and private.
We also added support for scrolling captures so you can automatically capture long webpages for instance.
Check out the new version and let us know what you think!

Fine control windows manager app?
Hi all,
I need a suggestion for windows manager app that will allow me granular control over each window.
To try to explain here is an example: Lets say when I use safari i want it always in maximum expanded state so if you use the default built in manager in the new MacOS that will be "FILL" window size. However, if i want to open MS Teams, I like it on the right side of the screen but I want to be able to control the specific high and width of teams as I dont like the default measurements when you snap to the left. Similarly, when I open Notes app, I want it in the left area of my screen but not snapped to the left. I like it to remain a rectangular shape but the size to be reduced to what I would prefer it to be as in customised size.
So what i need is an app that will allow me to save per APP default sizes and snap apps to that size with common shortcuts. Do you know of such an app?
P>S> If this makes no sense let me know and will try to explain better or get a photo sample of what i want to achieve

My CleanShot X Video lags about 1s, any other app recommendations?
Hi, CleanShot X was a long tiime a very neat tool, but since some major updates the audio lags about 1s to the video. In 1080p 25fps on a macbook air M1 - I can't use it anymore.
Any other recommendations? paid or free.

Validate idea, an native Docker Client
Hi everyone,
I’m going to build a native macOS Docker Client.
I just want to validate the idea first to make sure it is worth a try.
Do you guys want the app like this?
Thank you everyone for the answer.

monoPlayer 2.0 – new major release (with discount code for /r/MacApps!)
Dear MacApps community:
I am happy to announce the release of version 2 of my local music player, monoPlayer, with a discount code for members of the community. You can download the app here (or update through the app, if you already have v.1): https://monohex.com/monoPlayer
If you're not familiar with it, monoPlayer is a modern, native local music player for macOS aimed at audiophiles and people who own their music. It supports a large number of lossless music formats, as well as an extensive tagging support. This is all packaged within a clean, untuitive interface which has been updated for macOS 26 Tahoe (although it still looks great on Sequoia, too!).
# Screenshot
monoPlayer main window
# New Features
Version 2 introduces a slew of new features, the most important being an innovative and powerful approach to music libraries, called Multi-Library. I've put together a few short screencasts to show how the new library feature works:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh8yuEX9Dojuw13WF8zd-LbEnQGo16tJf
Version 2 also adds a full tag editor, support for ReplayGain, and any other important features. It's a massive release, and you can check out the full details on our website: https://monohex.com/monoPlayer
# Free trial & discount code
The app has a free 30-day trial, after which it is US$25 to purchase a license. It's a one-time purchase to unlock version 2, not a subnoscription. Members of this subreddit can use the code macapps-20 for 20% off the purchase price until the end of October 2025.
One final thing – to comply with the new Rule #8 – this is not a vibe-coded app or similar. In fact, it doesn't use any AI/LLM-generated code whatsoever. Everything is written by hand by me (aside from a few third-party libraries, which are duly acknowledged), for what that's worth!
Thanks so much for your support, and let me know if you have any feedback!
