ChatKeeper 1.3.0: sync your entire ChatGPT history with local Markdown files

Hi r/macapps, I just released ChatKeeper 1.3.0, a macOS (and cross-platform) tool for syncing your ChatGPT export files into local Markdown.

This new version has improved citation rendering and character encoding, smarter filename handling, and early support for OpenAI’s new “Apps.” If you've run into any of these issues yourself, run the new version with the "--force" option to refresh the Markdown.

I personally use ChatKeeper with Obsidian to link my conversations directly into notes and projects, but it works with any app that handles Markdown. It's a command line program with many options, but here’s a simple command with sane defaults:

chatkeeper keep ~/Downloads/chatgpt-export.zip ~/My-Conversations

Free to try, modest one-time purchase for full features.
No subnoscriptions. Native binaries for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

You can download ChatKeeper 1.3.0 here.

What's a nice 3d file viewer?

I'm looking for a well designed & simple 3d file viewer that supports common 3d formats like obj, stl, ply, 3mf, step etc and can do basic stuff like cross sections, wireframe and measuring.

I know and have used meshlab and f3d but I really dislike them both as they look horrible and are a pain to use in general. Open source would be preferred but I'd definitely be willing to spend if it's not a subnoscription.

Printer App... For Kids?

I want my kids to be able to print easier. I find that the default priner menu is pretty complex for my younger kids. Is there a more visual print program?

OptiMac V3.0 - Now in Native SwiftUI.

Github - Releases Page for latest version. (One click DMG install.)

OP and Original Version HERE

First time for me writing anything in Swift, so, I would love feedback from you all.

I was genuinely blown away with the response from you all with the Python Version of OptiMac (Still available on GIT as *build from source,*) so I wanted to make it more visually appealing, lighter on resources and add a tonne of new features.

I hope you will let me know of any ideas/features you want added, too. :)

I found a gem that I want to share, launcher app

I was looking for a ring app launcher, but none appealed to me, either they didn't allow shortcuts with letters or I had to keep the keys pressed down. I ventured to buy this app that I found well-hidden and with no presence on social media, Ringit, which I think is Japanese or something like that, and it has a free version. The point is that combined with Multitouch, it's just crazy. I only have to touch one corner of my trackpad, and it executes a ring of quick actions for the app. If I touch another part of the trackpad, an app launcher opens, fast, with no lag. It can execute Apple shortcuts, open apps, run key shortcuts, and other things. I highly recommend the app; I leave you an example of the ring in Arc and the one for the apps

Pearcleaner... it's also a free Homebrew GUI!

With the latest update, Pearcleaner has taken a step that I have been waiting for for a long time: becoming a graphical interface for homebrew: search, installation, cleaning, etc.

InfoBubble

That app was made mostly for the editors work, to analyse the huge amount of news across the globe and find the "needed ones", using local AI (including Apple AI, but please don't), and see what's going on.

It has small inner library (for example, for US it's an around 5000 RSS channels), what I update periodically. That list is on GitHub also.

It can filter news by sentiment, so you can filter out all bad news (and it would look like USSR newspaper), or good ones, and it will make you sad.

It has "fear chart", so you can find "fear mongers" and "too positives", to not read them.

It has readed "no filter" mode, where AI tries to find the same news and group them into folders - it helps to find the source.

It has summaries, so it will be easy to see result on your language.

It has chat bot, if you want to transform summary to something different.

I have some plans for updates, but I'm using it for a month already, and it's… fine. Personally, im using it to find the news by the criteria "news what can be related to the Ukrainian citizens in Poland", it helps.

Right now I'm working on the updating source database mostly, but I have some ideas to make the full pipeline: find news, filter news, export in to the new rss.

Mail clients

Hello all. I've used Apple Mail for years. I'm at a moment where now might be the time to change to an alternative, but I don't know what I'm missing, if anything. I've been looking at options. Perhaps it's best to stick with Mail, but is there a feature in an alternative that anyone would say is worth the change? I appreciate any input.

Looking for a movie/TV tracker app with some requirements

My expectations are,

must be able to create folders (or whatever it is called) to save my favs
Analytics section, where I see some funny stats like total watch hours in a year/month, Top genres
(Good to have) able to share my collection with other users,
For non-user/s, app might grab wiki/social links like IMDb of movies/shows

I came across few awesome apps like Cronica (free, open source), Movie Diary, Movie Memoirs that I am still using for their individual pros!

Also please share your app of choice 🙂

DeskSweep Just Got Smarter—Your Disk Space Is Precious. 🧹

https://preview.redd.it/gwtthjmzduxf1.png?width=1216&format=png&auto=webp&s=36effad00599f37244de18837b8d003228e702a7

We’re thrilled to announce the latest version of DeskSweep, your trusted macOS utility for keeping your desktop clean, organized, and clutter-free—automatically, regularly, and without any effort on your part.

As Kristin M. put it:

>"Loving the functionality of the app and the 'set it and forget it' part."

But here’s the thing: We’ve been doing our job too well. Over time, your destination folder (where your desktop files are move to) might grow in size, quietly eating up your precious disk space. That’s why we’ve introduced Destination Folder Monitoring in this update.

Now, you can set a size limit for your destination folder. If it exceeds that limit, DeskSweep will gently warn you by changing the color of the menubar icon—still unobtrusive, but just enough of a nudge.

If you haven’t tried DeskSweep yet, **download it for free from the App Store** and experience the magic of a cleaner, more efficient Mac!
