How I use BetterTouchTool

[RCMD Configuration Example](https://preview.redd.it/1cf582rq8u1g1.png?width=2424&format=png&auto=webp&s=2111d1eab5e86f520215ff956159997deefc45ab)

[BetterTouchTool](https://folivora.ai/) (BTT) by u/fifafu is a complex yet versatile masterpiece of an app, eliminating the need for numerous single‑purpose utilities. It manages windows and pinning, customizes mouse and touch‑pad behavior, expands text, runs advanced macros and noscripts, creates custom context windows and menu bars, launches and switches applications, and much more.

I don’t claim to use even a fraction of its capabilities, but here are a few ideas from my own use for those who find it daunting. Also,>!**If you use BTT, please share your top use case(s) below!**!<

**Global, Browser or App Management:**

* TipTap Left (1 Finger Fix) = CTRL+Tab | Switch forward one tab
* TipTap Right (1 Finger Fix) = CTRL+Shift+Tab | Switch backward one tab
* TipTap Left (2 Fingers Fix) = CMD+W | Closes the active tab or window.
* TipTap Right (2 Fingers Fix) = CMD+Shift+T | UNDO Closes the active tab or window.
* 3 Finger Tap | Lookup Word Under Cursor
* CMD+3 Finger Tap | Search Selected Text with Google
* 4-Finger Click = CMD+Q | Quits the active app.
* CMD+Delete | Forward Delete (as opposed to backspace)
* OPT+Q | Trigger Quit All with Alfred
* FN+W  | Kill Wifi Shell Script \[Useful for when you send an email, realize you forgot something, and hope it didn’t get out yet\]
* FN+Q | Trigger Quit All with Alfred + Kill Wifi \[Useful for when you send an email, realize you forgot something, and hope it didn’t get out yet\]

**Window Management:**

* 3 Finger Double-Tap = CMD+Tab | Switches to the most recent app.
* Caps Lock = Act as Hyperkey | I actually have this disabled and use Karabiner to set this instead, as it did not always work 100% of the time for me.
* HyperKey+Tab | Show Window Switcher for All Open Apps
* HyperKey+D | Hide All Windows
* HyperKey+O | Pin/Unpin Window Float on Top
* HyperKey+**←** | Maximize Window Left Half
* HyperKey+→ | Maximize Window Right Half
* HyperKey+↑ | Maximize Window Top Half
* HyperKey+↓ | Maximize Window Bottom Half
* FN+→ | Move Window to Next Monitor
* 4-Finger Swipe Up | Mission Control
* 4-Finger Swipe Down | Application Expose
* 2 Finger Swipe from Bottom Edge | Maximize Window

**Launcher/RCMD Functionality:**

* RCMD+F | Launch or Surface/Hide Firefox
* RCMD+P | Launch or Surface/Hide Preview
* RCMD+T | Launch or Surface/Hide Text Workflow
* RCMD+D | Launch or Surface/Hide DevonThink
* RCMD+E | Add custom search tag criteria to a DevonThink search.
* RCMD+L | Launch or Surface/Hide Logos
* RCMD+S| Launch or Surface/Hide Scrivener
* RCMD+M | Launch or Surface/Hide Mail
* RCMD+N | Launch or Surface/Hide Notes
* ROPT+N | Launch or Surface/Hide Notability
* RCMD+A | Launch or Surface/Hide Affinity
* HyperKey+P | Launch or Surface/Hide [System Color Picker](https://sindresorhus.com/system-color-picker) by u/sindresorhus

**TextExpansion:**

* A+D+D+A+Space | Fills in my address for a multi-field form.
* A+D+D+R+Space | Fills in my address in a single line.
* *I use* [Alfred](https://www.alfredapp.com/) *more for text expansion.*

**App Specific Examples:**

* F1 through F5 | Highlight selected text in DevonThink, or remove highlight macro.\*
* HyperKey+1–8 | Color text in UpNote
* F1 through F7 | Set text styles in Scrivener
* F12, F11 | 20–40 action macros to reformat DevonThink source links in Scrivener to a specific format that makes citation easier for me later.

\*Used in tandem with the free [CustomShortcuts](https://www.houdah.com/customShortcuts/) by Houdah Software

**Logitech G604:**

* I set my Logitech Mouse so that each button functions as CMD+F1 through F18, and then use BTT to remap them to whatever I want on a per-app basis. Actions vary between Browser, Finder, and Media tools.

What native crossplatform apps do you use both on Windows and Mac?

I have a Macbook Air M1 and a Windows gaming rig I use... just for gaming. I would like to implement it more into my workflow as it has a bigger screen. Sure I could just plug the screen into my Macbook but the M1 doesn't look so nice on the big screen...
So, are there any good apps you are using on both systems?

I built my own Mac clipboard manager and used it for a year — releasing it today (free & open-source)

macOS recently added a clipboard history feature, but it still takes too many steps to reach it. Over the past years I tried several apps — the paid ones were too expensive, and the free ones felt limited.

A year ago I ended up building my own clipboard manager with the exact features I needed, and I’ve been using it daily ever since. Today I’m releasing it for everyone.

It’s simple, fast, lightweight, and honestly has features that, for my workflow, beat some paid options.

New to swift

I would like to build a Mac app. A productivity app like . I've never programmed in Swift before. I know some web development. Can someone tell me where can I start? I googled how to get started with swift but didn’t find a good resource.

Is there something like The odin project but for swift.

Appreciate any advice

Open Beta SmartTracker for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

Hey r/macapps!

Today I’m launching the first beta of an app I’ve been working on for the past few months. The reason I built this app was because I was tired of manually checking the prices for the products I wanted to buy, and most web services didn’t offer support for my currency (I’m from Brazil).

TL;DR: Native tracker for Apple platforms. Free beta. Privacy-focused. Feedback = lifetime Pro.

How do you come up with names for your apps?

One of my guilty pleasures (other than trying new apps) is seeing all the creative names and domains people use for their apps. I’m curious … how did you come up with the name for your app? Or what’s your favorite app names or ones with a cool story behind them?

Stop paying for bookmarking as your free and open source bookmark manager just got a huge update to support drag&drop, folder in folder and custom ordering!

Hey everyone,

A few months ago I released YABA (Yet Another Bookmark App). It is free, open source, private, and fully native on Apple platforms. No ads, no subnoscriptions, no tracking. Just a simple bookmarking tool that you control.

YABA just passed 5,200 downloads. Thank you to everyone who has been using it, sharing feedback, opening issues, or helping the project grow.

I keep seeing new bookmark apps pop up on Reddit. Most are closed source and paid or subnoscription based. Meanwhile, YABA is open source and will stay free forever. No lock-in, no analytics, no hidden business model. It will outlive me.

Today I am releasing YABA v1.5. This update focuses on better organization, smoother interactions, and more control over your library.

# What's new?

- Drag and drop: Reorder bookmarks, folders, and tags naturally. Works across all supported platforms.

- Folder in folder: Create nested folders and build the hierarchy you want.

- Bulk actions: Select multiple bookmarks and move or delete them together.

- HTML export: Export your entire library as a portable HTML file.

- macOS menu bar improvements: Browse, search instantly, open with one click, swipe to delete, and double tap to open in YABA or your browser.

- Improved bookmark editing: Choose the bookmark image from the images extracted from the URL.

- Optional background animations: Disable them for better performance or a cleaner look.

# What's next?

\- Development for Android, Windows, and Linux has started.
\- YABA on Apple platforms will enter a 2 to 3 month code freeze. Updates in this period will be limited to bugfixes.
\- Planned extensions for Raycast, Alfred, and Safari. The database is being reworked for cross-platform support, so these will come once the new foundation is stable.

You can download now in App Store and check source code from GitHub!
