possible request? for a dev looking for something to code. An app that shows all current OS permissions assigned to an app.
I've looked around and searched in this and other forums. I cannot find what I want. I did find other people looking for the same.
Right now, on MacOS you can go into privacy and security and look into each permission and see which apps have the permission assigned, but it seems you cannot select an app and see a list of all currently assigned permissions.
If I am mistaken, can somebody point me to an app that does this or a way to do is. If I am not mistaken and it doesnt exist...maybe a simple project for somebody wantint to dev something.
thanks

Looking for quick notes app
Hi there! I remeber having a quick notes app on macos that allowed using math in-line.
So you would type stuff like:
\-------------------------------------------------
Hi there this is a note
a=12
b=35
a+b= <result here in lightblue or something>
\-------------------------------------------------
I remeber it being very simple and useful, but cant seem to find it :(
EDIT: Claude found it!! -> https://numi.app/

School or coursework related app
Hi All,
I'm in the middle of planning some coursework for myself. It's all self study. I've been out of school for a while now. Back then we used Blackboard and some other web-based course management software.
Is there any Mac app that organizes coursework, a semester calendar, homework, exams etc well? I'm not looking for a life integration app or to pull this stuff into my Calendar or do obsidian.
I'm studying for a financial exam and two other hobby related things through June of next year and I just want to put my 'syllabus' and stuff into an app so I can look at a calendar, see what I need to study, and track my progress.

CSV editor for MacOS
Hi all,
I'm looking for a CSV editor for MacOS.
I've tried a few apps on the App Store, as well as a paid option, but none of them seem to suit my needs, so I'd like to hear what you're using :)
I've searched on the subreddit but other threads seem to be outdated.

Which app uninstaller removes the most files?
When I uninstall an application I want every single file/folder/etc… related to that app to be removed from my computer.
I’ve tried a couple of apps so far and they all seem to remove different files, never the exact same amount. Some manage to find more files than others.
Has anyone reviewed which app uninstaller/cleaner removes the most files altogether?

Bloom with 2 View Panes But Only One Sidebar
I use Bloom with 2-panes stacker vertically, but there is only one sidebar. Too many times I click on the sidebar but forgot to make the pane I want to change the active pane. I could not find an option for dual sidebars to go with dual panes. The left and right sidebar option still only changes the current active pane. I want one sidebar for each pane. Have I missed an option somewhere?

Question: Can the Notch host two apps?
Question is in the noscript. I recently downloaded Boring Notch and I like it. I like being able to hove over it and get my info at a glance. But I just found Folder Hub and it looks similar (maybe better?) than Folder Peak but uses the notch as well. Also, my menu bar is a little busy already and after using something to hide apps on my menu bar and hating it, I don't want to go back.
Can the notch host two apps that require hovering over? Or do I need to choose?
Thanks!

Build an Alternative to Raycast & Popclip. Try it out, use my referral code 292O1DPL to get credits that never expire.
Yo'all
Just released my first Mac app after spending 6 months building it for myself during college.
The problem I was trying to solve: I'd be studying, have a question, open ChatGPT in my browser, see a X notification, and 30 minutes later I'm watching YouTube. Every. Single. Time.
I realized the real issue wasn't discipline (maybe i have adhd) - it was that I kept having to LEAVE what I was doing to get help. Context switching was destroying my focus.
ahsk keeps you in flow state, designed specifically for students:
\- Select any text, hit Opt+Shift+A → instant AI explanation appears (no tab switching)
\- Focus mode that actually terminates distracting apps (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
\- Auto-generates flashcards from whatever you're reading using spaced repetition
Built with SwiftUI, runs on Apple Silicon + Intel. Notarized and sandboxed.
Free tier with 100 AI queries/month. Student tier is $15/mo for unlimited. You can use referral code that I have put in the noscript to get more credits for free and share it with your friends to get more and more.
Download: ahsk
You can check all the features here
Genuinely would love feedback from this community - you all know Mac apps better than anyone. What am I missing? What would make this actually useful for you?
Happy to answer any questions!

hey devs... tell us about your Christmas discounts 🎄🌲🎄🌲🎄🌲
i like to buy discounted Mac and iOS apps on Christmas day, so how about we get devs commenting here with their upcoming sales info in the comments.
please make clear if the price mentioned is an upfront app discount, in-app purchase discount, or (i'm not sure this is even possible) a subnoscription discount.
thank you!

TextPal emoji app
There used to be an slack inspired emoji picker app called TextPal which I really enjoyed using. Unfortunately, when I reset my Mac I forgot to save the app, I only noticed when I tried to download it again that it is no longer downloadable. I tried going back on Wayback Machine to a time where the Gumroad site still worked but it unfortunately doesn't work.
If any of you still have the .app file I'd be very grateful if you could send it, or tell me where I can find it. Thanks

Actual apps that I use and that you probably use as well.
Apple: Notes, Reminders, Freeform, Journal,
Flow: Best Pomodor that is cross wide so it blocks the apps on your iphone to mac and websites and ipad very friggin good. Literally glaze this so much its probably the best pomodoro out there and so worth it.
AppLockr: Good App locker if you don't want people to snoop around.
Maccy: Great clipboard manager, would prefer pastepal or paste but still very good
Aldente: Limit Battery Life 80% just good enough might be better out there but used this since the beginning so yeah
Alcove: Hate that the battery increase pop up takes up space, so this helps alot to utilize the space above and give me more screen real estate, and just so good. The features and such I can see the music play just good
Grammarly: Crosswide grammer checker for those who just suck at typing
PearCleaner: Good for cleaning all the files not just the app itself.
Trackweight: Lab Work and a backup lol
Monocle 3.0: for distractions helps so much as someone who puts too many windows in one screen just bery convenient.
OnText: I use alot of AI so it's so easy for me to highlight then just select gemeni
LogiOptions: Good for more tools and stuff if u have the mouse

Can someone make a native file convertor in MacOS that doesn't have a seperate app?
I think it would be pretty cool and effecient to see that because nowadays I think that the file convertors that are "offline" or in MacOS are just seperate apps. What if we could implement that instead into the selection bar when you right click on a file and just add it somewhere there? I think that would be pretty interesting and would be more Apple Design freindly and such and make it more effecient.

BentoBox v1.0 is here 🎉 Thank you for helping us shape it
https://reddit.com/link/1pqu26r/video/xx05h6kup78g1/player
Hey everyone. We just shipped BentoBox v1.0.0.
More than anything, we wanted to say thank you to the people who’ve downloaded it, bought a license, sent feedback, reported bugs, and suggested features. Your feedback has had a direct impact on what we’ve built and prioritized, and we’re thankful you took the time to share it.
A few highlights we’re especially excited about:
Windowed Mode (Overlapping Zones) alongside classic Tiled Mode
Per-zone keyboard shortcuts to snap the focused window to a specific zone
Multi-monitor smart navigation (space-aware movement and spanning across displays)
Cross-display cycling for classic movement shortcuts
If you’re new: BentoBox brings a familiar zone-based snapping workflow to macOS, inspired by tools we loved elsewhere, but designed to feel native on Mac. Learn more at bentoboxapp.com
Happy to answer questions, and we’re always listening if you’ve got ideas.

Mac apps that fixed my workflow this year
[August](https://www.meetaugust.ai/?country=us) – It's a health care app in which I store my lab reports, ask about symptoms, or just chat when something feels off ( in not too serious cases). free and way better than googling symptoms.
Ice – It’s a menu bar manager that hides all those clutter icons. I used to use Bartender, but after they got bought out and things got weird, I switched to this because it's open source and free. It does exactly what it needs to do: keeps my top bar clean without asking for my credit card. github - jordanbaird/Ice
[Shottr](https://shottr.cc/)– Probably the fastest screenshot tool I've ever used. The scrolling screenshot feature actually works reliably, which is rare, and the pixelation tool is great for hiding sensitive info quickly. It feels incredibly native and lightweight compared to some of the heavier alternatives like CleanShot.
**Maccy**– A clipboard manager that just lists your history in text form, no bloat. I didn't realize how much time I wasted recopying things until I installed this; now I just hit
[Dropover](https://dropoverapp.com/)– You shake your mouse while dragging a file, and it creates a little temporary shelf to hold it. It sounds gimmicky, but when you're moving files between full screen apps or deep folder structures, it’s a lifesaver. It saves me from having to open two Finder windows side by side.
**IINA**– This is basically the modern VLC; it plays every video format in existence but actually looks like a new macOS app. The UI is sleek, it supports picture in picture perfectly, and it handles subnoscripts way better than QuickTime. If you are still using VLC, just try this, it’s much prettier.
opinion guys?
