Bought ANYBOX and am pretty disappointed. To say the least. I actually think it is trash.

I thought Anybox was a full-featured database (-like) app for URLs. But I'm pretty disappointed. Why?

Sorting

^(Main window,) ^(list view)

I can only sort by 'Name' and 'Date Added'. I cannot sort any other column I (made and) selected in list view. Especially the columns 'Folder' and 'Tag' would be very useful for sorting but they don't do anything when clicking on the header.

^(Sidebar)

Sorting Folders in the sidebar is not possible.
Sorting Tags in the sidebar is not possible.

Editing

Edit URL and Edit Metadata are separate right-click menus → Why not a single window where all info on a link is editable at once? Illogic, confusing and implemented in a messy way.
Cannot edit in the Inspector (which could be that 'single window')

Syncing

No idea how I can activate syncing. It doesn't start by itself anyway.

Settings are set right in the system settings: On both my Macs Anybox has full disk access and it's also switched on in iCloud (system settings). Both Macs are on the same Apple account. All other iCloud syncs work.

Folders

Cannot make main folders in the sidebar, only child folders.
Cannot make folders in the main window.

Search

Cannot search for folders.

Export

I can only export all bookmarks; not just one of the folders with bookmarks. Which can be done in any browser with a plugin however.

So, concluding: I spend €24 on something that does not ease using URLs. Anybox appears to be a half-baked, user unfriendly, frustrating and above all, time robbing app. The opposite of what it should be.

DockDoor question: Notification dot in Window Switcher?

Trying out DockDoor to replace Alt Tab after seeing it on here.

When I CMD TAB, I'd like to see notfication dots or indicators on the app icons for the windows.

Is there such a feature? I've replaced CMD TAB with DockDoor's WindowSwitcher.

New Program - Neat Little Find

I've been on this forum for a while and I am still blown away that once in a while, a program slips through the cracks. The program Application Wizard is quite neat actually.

I am just playing through it now, but take a look yourself.

looking for a task widget for the desktop

https://preview.redd.it/ydsiu5b2cw9g1.png?width=962&format=png&auto=webp&s=c3565e556ab9ab9ddf7abf14174179a741a64a0f

Is there a free or open-source app Does it offer a widget like this on desktop...

or a better one? I tried Apple’s Reminders widget, and I find it not smooth or practical.

I just upgraded to macOS 26.2 and Bartender seems broken for me (v6.3.0). It keeps rearranging my menu bar icons, but it refuses to hide the ones I want hidden. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I built a keyboard-first HomeKit app because the macOS Home app feels like (is) an iPad port

I spend most of my day on macOS, and the Home app has always felt off.

It’s basically the iPad app dropped onto macOS:

* Not optimized for keyboard use
* Slow to navigate
* Requires constant mouse interaction

That becomes really noticeable when you’re in the middle of something, especially video calls. I’m often in meetings and want to quickly:

* Dim lights
* Close shades
* Toggle a single accessory

Opening a full app just to do that completely breaks focus. So I built [HomeSpot](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/homespot/id6757016819), a **keyboard-focused HomeKit app** where:

* Everything is searchable
* Controls are accessible from Spotlight
* Common actions take just a few keystrokes

Now, during a call, I can hit Spotlight, type a device name, toggle it, and keep talking without switching apps or windows.This feels much more in line with how macOS is meant to work.

Pricing-wise, HomeSpot is a one-time purchase. No subnoscriptions or ongoing fees. I wanted this to feel like a proper native utility, not another service you have to keep paying for.

I built a teleprompter that hides in the MacBook notch - looking for 10 beta testers

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a small Mac app called Notchie. It’s a teleprompter that sits in the notch area of MacBooks - right below the camera.

The idea came from my own frustration: I do a lot of video calls and webinars, and I always looked away from the camera when checking my notes. People could tell I was reading.

So I built this thing that:

Shows scrolling text in the notch (closest spot to the camera)
Lets you pause by hovering, control speed with keyboard
And the part I’m most proud of: it’s completely invisible during screen sharing

I’m looking for about 10 people who’d be willing to test it and give me honest feedback. What works, what doesn’t, what’s missing, etc.

Requirements:

MacBook
macOS 13 or later
Willing to share your thoughts after using it for a few days

If you’re interested, drop a comment or DM me. I’ll send you a free copy - no strings attached.

And if you have any questions about how it works, happy to answer.

Thanks!

System notifications in the notch?

I have been searching for an app that replaces the macOS system notifications (top right corner) into the notch instead but havn’t found such an app yet. So basically, i would like for all system notifications to appear in the notch area via a small drop down window that stays visible for x amount of time.

If anyone know of such an app, please share it or if someone could try and code it. That would be fantastic.

I made a free web app to easily create bulk install mac apps!

Inspired by Ninite for windows**, InstallKit** helps you install all your favorite Mac apps at once using [Homebrew](https://brew.sh/).

Instead of:

1. Searching for each app online
2. Downloading installers one by one
3. Dragging apps to your Applications folder repeatedly

You can:

1. Pick all the apps you want from InstallKit
2. Copy one command
3. Paste it in Terminal and let Homebrew install everything

Perfect for:

* **Setting up a new Mac** — Get all your apps installed quickly
* **Reinstalling macOS** — Restore your setup without hunting for downloads
* **Sharing your setup** — Send friends a link with your recommended apps
