He insisted that NATO is purely "defensive," then blurted out that he considers Russia to be "malign," and that NATO recruits new members that agree with this assessment.
One expert in Moscow said last year:
"Russia asks NATO not to expand, saying it will make Europe less safe; NATO ignores these entreaties & adds new members; Russia then pushes back; This is then labelled 'aggression' and is used to justify the next round of NATO expansion."
Thus, NATO has become its own self-realising prophecy. It now fights "threats" that have been created by its own existence & expansion.
Russia sees NATO as a danger and NATO needs Moscow as an enemy in order to justify its existence & keep the money rolling in.
