The very simple fact that without eastward NATO expansion, Russia would not have had a security dilemma.

As it went viral, showed this thread to a few top experts in Moscow & asked for their views. "нет, это ерунда (No, this is nonsense)," was the consensus.

Russia, they say, sees the EU & NATO as "the same complex."

Moscow believes they have become one bloc... "the West."

One expert pointed out that "back in 2008, (then President) Dmitry Medvedev tried to negotiate seperately with them, but quickly realised that they speak as a collective, so there was no point."

"It's really sad that Western 'experts' are so misinformed," added another.

IMO, the poor quality of Russia expertise in the West is very dangerous, and is the primary factor fuelling continuous Western missteps in policy towards Moscow.

Political leaders are receiving bad advice from people who are basically guessing, and keep getting things wrong.

Interesting backdrop to yesterday's handshake between the Russian & British Defence Ministers.

Generals de Lattre (France), Eisenhower (US), Montgomery (UK) & Zhukov (USSR) opposite the burned-out Berlin Reichstag, in 1945.

That wasn't put there by accident.

U.S. Sends Nuclear Submarine To Harass Russia Near Japan
https://www.moonofalabama.org/2022/02/us-sends-nuclear-submarine-to-harass-russia-near-japan.html

Since October 30 2021 the U.S. is warning of a Russian military buildup and a potential invasion of the Ukraine. Over the last days the screaming over Russian exercises on Russian grounds has again increased. The U.S. Secretary of State...
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for evidence of the February 16 invasion, if available.

This is how he answered a question about Western publications about Russia's alleged attack on Ukraine next week.

"We take all this information into account, we are grateful for this information, but we must clearly analyze any information, assess risks," Zelensky said.

He believes that there is “too much information about the Russian invasion” in the information space. And he wants to see evidence.

At the same time, answering the question whether this means that he does not agree with the assessments of Western countries regarding the threat of invasion, he answered evasively:

“I am not saying that we agree or disagree with some information about an upcoming event that did not happen. We analyze different information. And I can’t say that our Ukrainian intelligence works worse than the Western one.”
