Russia calls the US resolution on Gaza a political stunt that would give Israel the green light for an assault on Rafah — Envoy
Moscow’s UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya noted that Gaza has been destroyed over the past six months, and only now has the American representative acknowledged the need for a ceasefire.
He added that if the resolution were adopted, it would close the discussion on the situation in the enclave, and give Israel a free hand there.
Therefore, Russia — joined by China, and Algeria — voted down the resolution.
