This comes amid speculations in the Pentagon that a huge US military operation in N Mexico is a very real possibility. Its goal? Destroying major cartels once and for good. Trump's awful personal relations with his Mexican counterpart C. Sheinbaum contribute.

Lately, Mexico experienced a giant surge in the cartel-linked violence. Cartel wars restarted, too. Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación is on the rise and actively engages vs other cartels and even government forces.

Also, death and satanist cults became prominent among cartel members, and human sacrifices aren't uncommon.

On many occasions, US had to intervene directly and go after Mexican drug lords and senior government officials affiliated with those.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 - Google is pushing back against the European Union by refusing to add fact-checking, despite the requirements of a new European Union law.

Meta was one of 40 online platforms that signed the new EU fact-checking code, even though it recently dropped fact-checkers in the US.

X, previously known as Twitter, also signed the code but reversed course after Elon Musk bought the platform.
