That your peace be an entire inner sky of liberated butterflies painting your whole life with the colors of their useful wings. That today you forget just a few of the reasons you are unhappy, and stumble over strange foreign things on your path. And when you bend down to pick them up, you discover these foreigners to be reasons for your joy. I pray you put them in your pocket. Or swallow them on the spot. I pray you place the pain of your grief in your palm, then blow on it like a dandelion seed. And that, even if just for a moment, this seed takes flight away from you. I pray you can remember what lightness feels like in your chest. And that you speak to your tears softly, saying, “It is okay, my sweet emotion. You can pour out now freely. I won’t punish you at all.” I pray today you will pray by breathing with your every molecule. That maybe you imitate the birds in song. They gather near you because they are curious why you are songless. They Love you and want to share with you their verse. I pray you take their gift and become music. That your new sound drowns out the old life that haunts you, and an audience of spirit gathers to enjoy your lush melody. I pray this audience stays long within you.
