Someone commented this on a recent post of mine: "Beginners shouldn't be reading St. Thomas."
This is EXACTLY what is wrong with how most moderns view St. Thomas. He is not some ivory tower academic meant only for scholars or for advanced students.
NO, he is the common doctor of the Church. The common doctor is for EVERYONE and EVERYONE should be able to fruitfully read St. Thomas.
The problem most people have is that they don't know about what St. Thomas wrote...St. Thomas did not only write complicated works of scholastic theology, he wrote works for EVERYONE.
St. Thomas wrote biblical commentaries, catechetical works, gave sermons, and spiritual tracts. There is something for everyone in the Church to read, understand, and be edified by.
This is why I decided to do something about it and record a video specifically made for the beginners out there who don't think they can understand St. Thomas...nope, you can, you've just been given the wrong reading list.
