Improving productivity in block/panel caving through dynamic confinement of semi-autonomous load-haul-dump machines


The incorporation of autonomous equipment is fuelling a revolution in mining, but it poses operational challenges due to potential hazardous interactions between humans and the autonomous machinery. For this reason, block and panel caving mines operate under a static confinement policy that stops all autonomous LHDs when workers must enter the production area, thus having a huge negative impact on productivity. To address this challenge, we propose two dynamic confinement policies, and we model them using discrete event simulation. Results show that the dynamic moderate/intensive policies may lead to increases in production of 35%/45% when compared with the static policy.

Undergraduate mining engineering programs' enrollments are down in many countries such as US, Australia, Canada and UK. There is already a mining engineer skills shortage in the industry. The big players need to take an active role. These rankings won’t have much meaning if universities fail to deliver on their main objective of training highly qualified engineers.

The rankings are done by the following indicators:

The Future Is Nuclear - Has the Highest Capacity Factor, which basically means nuclear power plants are producing maximum power more than 93% of the time during the year -- compared to Solar's 20-30% best case (normally 18-20%).

Nuclear power generation is 1.5 to 2 times more efficient than natural gas and coal units, and 2.5 to 3.5 times more reliable than wind and solar plants.

Every year, nuclear-generated electricity saves our atmosphere from more than 470 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions that would otherwise come from fossil fuels.

That's the same as taking nearly 100 million passenger vehicles off the road.

یک شرکت استرالیایی یک فناوری نوین فرآوری موادمعدنی را به ثبت رسانده است. از طریق این فرایند جداسازی خشک، کارخانه می‌تواند محصول را بدون استفاده از آب یا تجهیزات متحرک، از باطله جدا کند.

این فناوری با حذف مصرف آب، اثرات زیست‌محیطی فرآوری را به میزان قابل توجهی کاهش می‌دهد. به‌طور خلاصه در این فرایند، ماده معدنی خام، توسط نوارنقاله به بخش اسکن منتقل شده، توسط یک اسکنر لیزری، جدایش باطله از محصول انجام می‌گیرد و یک جریان پرفشار ایر جت، مسیر این مواد را از یکدیگر تفکیک می‌کند.

این تکنولوژی مشخصاً نوعی سنسور سورتینگ اما به شکل عمودی است. ویدیویی که مشاهده می‌کنید یک پایلوت پلنت ماژولار است که عملکرد سیستم را نمایش می‌دهد. نظر شما درباره نقاط قوت و ضعف این فناوری چیست؟

شیرر لودر – Shearer Loader

شیرر لودرها ماشین‌های نسبتا باریکی هستند که روی ناو زنجیری جبهه کار حرکت می‌کنند و معمولا یک برش با عمق ۶۰ تا ۹۰ سانتی‌متر ایجاد نماید. این نوع ماشین زغال کنی برای اولین بار در سال ۱۹۵۲ در انگلستان ساخته شد. شیررها علی رغم ان که انواع مختلف دارند دارای چنین عضو مشترکند.
