Strawberry buttercream:
1/2 cup salted butter (one stick)
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest pinch of salt
2 tablespoons strawberry puree
1 tablespoon milk

Combine all ingredients and whip with an electric mixer until light

Fluffy easy strawberry cake:
1 box white cake mix
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 milk
3/4 cup strawberry puree
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon zest
pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350. combine all ingredients in the bowl of an electric mixer and mix on on medium speed for 2 minutes. pour batter in prepared pan and bake for 25-35 mins, checking for doneness frequently. let cool before frosting. this is a 9” square dish and it made half a dozen cupcakes as well. i’ve made this in three 6” round pans as well as a 9x13. baking time will vary depending on what you use. ignore the ingredients and directions on the cake mix box.
